Why is the radar still 18m? I’ve seen 20 polls were people voted to have the radar increased to 25 to 30m and 6 of these polls were on Halowaypoint. So if 343 is supposedly listening to their fans then why has this not been changed? I was kinda excited when I saw social slayer had been added and since I had been playing BTB because of the 80’000 REQ pack that had been added I thought the radar would also be 25m in all other playlist, boy was I wrong. During my first(and last) social slayer game I saw a red dot appear on my radar so I immediately turn to face the target just to get shoulder charged and killed. So whats the point of having a radar that only shows the enemy right beside you? The whole point of the radar is so you can see enemy’s before they get to you so you can prepare to fight them, It’s not supposed to be there just to taunt you and let you know your about to die.
This is easily one of the main reasons I stopped playing Halo 5 for so long and I’m probably one of the biggest fans of the Halo franchise out there so it says a lot when I stop playing Halo for so long. And i’m even having problems finding matches in MP which shows that the population is already dying which shouldn’t be happening with a game that has been out for less then 6 months. If 343 would just make a Halo game then they wouldn’t have so many problems.
because they obviously have no clue about core elements which make out halo team slayer. I usually only play wz and btb , since all the other stuff is just a chaotic mess.
I just played through MCC and halo 5 renders the radar pointless. Played a match yesterday on warzone and thought “Oh there must be someone outside the base”
Nope, they proceeded to assassinate me they were that close. I don’t focus on using it much anymore but I’d imagine those reliant on it would hate it. Halo 4 even indicated if they were lower or higher than you. Surprised they went backwards on that.
Lmao it’s very simple halo 5 have a 18m radar… What more do you want? Get used to it or stop playing.
There red is nothing wrong with Mossi g the old range but this far in the game if you still haven’t gotten used to it…welp. That’s on you bro.
for sure when halo 6 is on the table we can voice are opinions on which route to take but halo 5 just has a shorter radar lol simple as that.
Put it in your list of reason why halo 5 is terrible if you want but it shouldn’t change. Unless you just got the game I don’t see how anyone is still getting " omg eff this radar that’s why I died" moments.
It’s not that the 18m radar is bad
its that an 18m radar when combined with more powerful longer range auto weapons, sprint, thrust, slide and Spartan charge that is bad
remove those things and an 18m radar is perfectly fine
I don’t want more radar? Where’s the element of surprise then? Should the entire game just be one on one be duels where the people who land every shot will win EVERY time. No thanks

…Have you never play’d Halo before? Halo isn’t supposed to be random surprises that end in no skill kills. I think you’d be happier with CoD or Destiny.

it’s not about getting used to it. The shorten radar creates no skill kills. Somebody shouldn’t be able to get lucky by walking around a corner and finding the enemy face the other way because he can’t see him on radar. Even if you play the game like CoD and your constantly doing 360’s somebody will eventually kill you when you happened to be turned other way. If you like no skill games like that then that’s fine but Halo has a reputation of being very skill based and should stay that way.
The shorten radar is just one of the many problems with Halo 5. I plan on making another post when I have the time

I got killed twice because the radar showed someone farther than they actually were.

Destiny? Hahahaha -Yoinking!- idiot no I don’t want that. Of course I’ve played the game are you high. There’s more to halo than BR battles, If you’re that reliant or your radar that you can’t react to someone running at you then you’ve been out played by someone.

reliant? the radar takes skill and requires you to multi task. The only people who don’t consider it skill based are people that run around aimlessly shooting which usually causes your team to loose.
FYI I can easily kill anyone I see at the same time. It’s the ones that don’t show up on radar and use shoulder charge around a corner on you or end up getting behind you which wouldn’t happen if the radar had normal settings. Also you should check people stats next time before you post because you would have realized I don’t have a problem dominating people in H5 but I recognize the skill drop that the reduced radar creates.

You, sir, are why we can’t have nice things.
“Can’t react to someone running at you…” Really? You can honestly say that after playing Halo 5? I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve turned a corner, began walking forward, only to find myself being assassinated by someone who was apparently following me the whole time and finally got close enough to spartan charge me. There’s no way he’ll show up on radar because it is functionally broken (this is a fact), and the time is takes to cover 18m while sprinting and then spartan charging is about a second, I’d wager. I’d love for you to explain how to “react” to that. The fact that the dots are inconsistent, at best, and the red is so faint that unless you’re staring directly at the radar, your peripheral vision won’t pick it up, means that you can’t just “react” to someone who’s sprinting behind you.
Now, to cover the other person’s reply to you: Halo has been, and should remain being, about skill. This means landing your shots, out-maneuvering an opponent, or working together as groups to team-shoot. With radar being so small, inconsistent, and faint, it means players who choose to sprint blindly around the map and spartan charge opponents are free to do so, and are actually rewarded for it. In Halo 3, there’s no way in hell you’re going to just follow someone for half the map until they stop moving long enough for you to hit them in the back. Unless they are brand new to the game or don’t look at their radar (making them lesser skilled players), you can’t do it. But in Halo 5, you can easily sprint in circles on 343i’s only plan for map rotation (all maps are giant circles/squares with a center area where pathways converge) and just assassinate people at will.
The element of surprised comes from broken mechanics like Clamber, from crouching, from dropping down on someone, and from having a teammate by your side to help. Surprise should not come from the fact that the radar is there but doesn’t function properly.

learn to ninja more then. pretty much as soon as you see a red dot behind you jump thrust backwards. they will miss their should charge. its very easy to counter actually. which yes that takes skill to perform just right to now you either get a melee kill or they are frozen for a split second and you get 2-3 easy shots on them from behind. learn to adapt.

If the fan base all said they wanted a gun that killed anything in one shot, was full auto, range was infinite, went through walls and had aoe should 343 listen to them no, the thing is 343 feels like the 18m radar is balanced so they aren’t going to change it, and I agree with their choice, I’d rather look at my screen and listen for enemies than stare at my radar all game like it was in past game.

Ahahahahahahahahahaha… Ahahahahahaha. Please tell me you’re trolling.
“The only people…” Oh, you mean like the entire competitive community and the people who have played in tournament in every single Halo game prior to this in which motion tracker was removed? Staring at your motion tracker is not a skill. It’s a crutch for people with poor awareness. It gives you free information and rewards people for standing still and not being aggressive. “The skill drop that reduced radar creates” is non-existent. They are “random surprises” because you suck at the game and can’t figure out where people are without a mechanic that literally marks them for you with a big red dot.

so your telling to be like the idiots on Halo Reach that constantly jump backwards trying to get assassination but die 95% of the time doing it? no thank you. I prefer skill based mechanics. I don’t want to cross my fingers every time I see someone on radar behind me hoping that their so bad that they can’t kill.
p.s. I actually do this sometimes but since I play on look sensitivity of 10 I have a better chance of winning when I turn around.
