Radar should not be powerful.

Just straight up. First flight had it right. Radar watching slows down and chokes what COULD be high intensity games pretty hard. I used to think otherwise but after actually… Getting better, at Halo, and playing different modes where the Radar was present and where it wasn’t, man the difference is night and day. Comp modes move, social just… crawls and it’s just.

Ugh.

I don’t like 343i’s decision to make Radar that powerful again.

The majority of the community seemed to hate the change, you can’t really fault 343 for just doing what the fans want.

I think it is the best decision they have made so far. No one besides sweats liked the change and that is an incredibly small portion of Halo players. The radar should stay the way it has always been.

Its social. Radar shouldnt be designed for competative play. One reason why H5 social was terrible as viewed just as sweaty as ranked was people played it like ranked. Lots of things played into that, one being the radar as it didnt really emphasis casual play.

Your def in the minority here as 343 would not have changed it if the data did not support those in favor for the change back to the more og radar style

Sorry to hear that you’re unpleased about it

I think Reach radar had it right, it’s a motion tracker so showing motion makes sense, the distance it picked up motion wasn’t very far and it showed if someone was above or below you. Not too big on the radar Infinite had.

I never thought of myself as a sweat :joy: I personally was fine with it.

But I suppose it’s only making life easier?

It’s suppose to make it feel like a Halo game. It has been an iconic piece of the game since it existed.

being able to prepare for an engagement pre-emptively or crouch to hide yourself when you anticipate an enemy is a part of halo. makes it feel less like a twitch shooter.

lol

Trust me, nothing feels twitch about comp. It’s nuts how important placement is.

Disagreed , the radar in past halo halo 4 had the best radar system

Having to crouch to be invisible on the radar is part of Halo strategy . Halo 5 is irrevelant to me also halo 5 had a much better sprint than infinite , So infinite core moovement and gameplay made the Halo 5 like radar exploitable you could just run around without sprinting easily and go around the map full speed without needing to crouch ever …

THAT WAS EASY , not having to be slow and crouched to be invisible on radar ! Just stop it !

It’s so weird how certain gamers want Halo to be a completely different game instead of just playing a different game lol.

This is Halo we’re talking about. What happens in a circle with little dots in the corner of the screen should be more important than what happens on the other 95% of it. All hail motion detector! We must protect the campers!

I’m impartial now but I have to say, a motion tracker that doesnt pick up regular running speed doesnt make sense.

Honestly I’m super happy with the changes they’re making after the flight.
Radar just felt really weird in the first flight, wasn’t very intuitive or user friendly.

I’ve never felt like radar slows down a match at all. Halo has played fine all of these years working how it’s worked. Changing it to sprinting and gunfire only didn’t work for the general audience.

Forget the Halo Infinite radar. No radar is honestly a perfect fit for casual play, because not knowing where even nearby players are plays into the chaotic nature of Halo. If you find getting randomly assassinated because you didn’t have radar upsetting, I don’t think you’re so much embracing the spirit of casual play as you’re just wishing for a crutch to make the game easier for you. There is nothing inherently more casual about the old school radar.

How anyone gets satisfaction out of crouching in a corner and gluing their eyes to a motion tracker just to secure a kill is beyond me.

Remove it completely and make it a pickup with 1-2 minutes duration.

I’m a little disappointed that they changed the radar back to “normal”. Game modes and gameplay need to be as similar as possible between normal and ranked playlists if this game is going to thrive at all. And changing radar to this will already fracture it. The game really does play better and is more fun when players can’t easily see exactly where each other are all of the time. Shame.

Finally, somebody with some frakkin’ sense.

It makes it a better game lol. I’m not asking for BR only or even BR starts I’m literally saying, “Hey, this HUD element that encourages camping and throttles approaches? Maybe adjust that.”

Sprint showing you on the tracker is great. It is an outright, competitive-sandbox choice. Now they’re going to push it back to all visible all the time unless you’re crouching. Y’all really out here encouraging a style where camping is king.

Guh.
