Radar should be 25M at least

Hello guys, first i wanna say that the multiplayer seems amazinggggggggg, really good! =) i was impress, love the mechanics and is like a combination with old halos and new ones =) , the only thing that it should be changed, is the radar, 20M is too small when we have SPRINT, should be 25/30m the range, like halo5 beta was. Like i said before, halo 5 beta was the best halo experience i ever had. I hope 343 can listen this. ( at least we dont have spartan charge and thats really good, to be honest!) thank you all and keep the good work =)

25 m sounds good to me, but I’m sure they have reason to go with 20 m. Maybe the map design makes 20 m work best.

Wow. Someone remembers. Indeed, the Beta was good. True Halo experience. The radar in the state like it is now in Halo 5 is just pointless. One big thing about Halo was the ability to see your enemy’s on radar. They took that away.

It differs between game modes in the older Halos, 20m might not be the default.

I do agree that Halo 5’s radar as it currently works now whether in the Team Arena playlist or anywhere else is kinda pointless. The 20m range on the radar could work fine it will really depend on the map size. I’m sure the radar range will also be boosted a bit in BTB because the radar in Warzone in Halo 5 had a larger radius to it as well.

it was true, that radar and halo 5 mechanics were amazing, i felt a bit of this on halo infinite trailer =) Hope for a 25M radar at least or 20M if sprint is not too fast.

i think 343 “took it” radar from halo5, because maybe they saw that halo veterans destroy all halo new members… and without a radar, the “new gamers” could kill you easily, from back with spartan charge. But true halo experience is also to learn how to play the game, it seems today, we have to please everyone, and i think it shouldnt be like that, we need SKILL, training, to be better in stuff, and halo had that in previous Halos. A 5 star general in Halo 3 was really good player, we need that SKILL gap again, people need to learn, and practise more, and radar was part of halo always, how to use radar is also a skill to getting better. This challange of skill in Halo, specially in Halo 2 and Halo 3 , that was for me what makes multiplayer ( also that is arena shooter, and equally starts) of Halo so special.

H5 needed a longer radar given everyones inherent movement abilities. Spartans flying around the map meant a wider radar to counter it. Given we know thats not possible without equipment (as of now anyway) and sprint speed is drastically decreased compared to 5, I think 20 is a good starting point.

I’ve always felt that a large radar radius is too much of a win-more mechanic. If you are in a good position with a power weapon it stimulates to stay put while the radar gives you an advantage over the players trying to get you. This is especially the case in arena matches, not so much in BTB of course.
Without Spartan charge, and what seems to be a slower version of sprint, 20m seems fine to be aware of your surrounding but not give too much of a response time.

I am so different… I wish radar was always off

Nah, the radar changes are one of the few good changes to come with Halo 5, if you want to know where someone is pay attention to your surroundings and teammates not your UI.

If I’m going to be stuck with sprint and friends, y’all can deal with the toned down motion tracker.

Yea same. Radar/Motion tracker completely kills pacing and makes some maps borderline unplayable (Construct). Also I’m sure we’ve all been in the situation where you and a enemy see each other on the radar around a corner and neither one wants to make the first move because they don’t want to get prenaded.

Agreed. I think awareness should be learned and not handed to you on a platter.

I’m also not a big fan of the Radar and couldn’t care less if it was removed. Maybe they could try to switch it from motion detector to weapons fire detector.

For social an increase is fine. For ranked it isn’t. The matches become stagnant and predictable when the radars so over powering that you can’t take a step without showing up on the radar. I mean…you could crouch walk around the entire map I guess but that doesn’t sound fun at all.

With that being said, I like halo 5s radar because it allows more player expression and unique plays to be made. The games feel more engaging and exciting. With a game that’s going to probably play less intense now that the spartan abilities are gone…I don’t think the radar will be an issue if it wasn’t changed.

I like the team arena radar in halo 5. You don’t show up on radar at base movement speed or jumping. You only show up if you sprint, thrust, fire your weapon or melee. Just my 2 cents.

For ranked I want completely turned off. I don’t even want to entertain H5 radar for ranked.

we’ll see when we can try the game, but yes indeed I would like to see the radar range increased.

Now it’s like off.

It actually requires more skill to play without radar than with it.

Personally I think Halo is best played without radar, even though I am much better with one. I was a 5* general.

I think the radar works at its best when it doesn’t tell you what level the player is on. Knowing that makes an already easy thing to use, even more ridiculous.

To help newer players though I think the radar should be a decent range. Especially with sprint looking less effective and the apparent lack of thrusters.

I don’t know if radar requires less skill, it’s just a different, undesirable one.

Part of the issue I have with radar is you get into these engagements where both you and an enemy see each other on the radar but no one wants to make the first move because it’s a good way to get pre-naded. So both players try to bait out each other nades before before. This is definitely a skill, and it can be practiced and learned. CSGO and Valorant have entire strategies based around baiting the opposing team into wasting their grenades/utility. The issue with Halo is it turns what would be a 3 second engagement into sometimes 15+ seconds. It kills pacing and destroys map balance.
