Radar Range

I’ve played several games now and noticed that something felt off in the gameplay that I couldn’t quite grasp. I jumped back on MCC to compare with previous titles specifically halo 3 and immediately realised that the radar range felt massively smaller on Infinite. An example of this is when an enemy sprints at you offscreen it gives you no time to react ending in what feels like a cheap death. New players may not notice but OG players might. Could the range of radar be increased to match previous titles?

I also confirm this problem the radar is too short of range and you realize almost at the end that you have an opponent practically one meter away, in this way the radar is useless, as well as in this test I found the annoying lag to make games unnerving the shots do not enter and often and willingly you find yourself jerking, I hope it is only a problem of the technical beta and not of the final product because it is really unplayable in these situations

Yeah I agree. If it was slightly longer it would alleviate the amount of times enemies appear form the middle of nowhere. Just a few meters would suffice. Although it does make it really easy to sneak up on people :slight_smile:

I would also like to see the radar return to it’s original size. I feel like it’s about useless to me as it is and I almost completely ignore it now.

No, do you want constant X-ray vision too? The game to hold your hand 24/7?

Kinda agree. While it can make you more aware of your surroundings, it’s also very frustrating to get killed by an enemy that was just behind you and you couldn’t see it on your radar.

I agree op. I’m all for it going back to the classic range.

Pre-Halo 5 motion tracker range should come back. At least for social that is. Ranked, I’m cool with it’s current implementation.

The range really doesn’t help you locate them, you get hit out of the blue now.

The radar is not actually a radar but a nice little notification that you are about to… oh wait your dead.

No, and I wouldn’t be bothered if this was any other game but this Halo. Being able to detect enemies on your radar and use this effectively to outplay your opponents has been a key component in Halo since CE. Perhaps having a hardcore mode wherein radar was disabled or having a higher radar range in social games and the shorter range in competitive would be better. I understand where you’re coming from though I was just speaking from the perspective of someone who enjoys a less “try hard” game rather than constant sweat fest like COD. Its good to have these discussions though.

I honestly like the feel radar is tiny but when i was playing in halo 3 it is almost impossible to get the jump on somebody. They always know where your coming from and I honestly dont want to be looking at my radar half the game just because it shows me everything. Of course you have people that will abuse this tiny radar so i suggest if a person is standing still/crouched for a certain period of time they will show up on the sensor.

Definitely increase the radar but it would be cool to have the option to increase and decrease the range of the radar.

I definitely agree, the current 18m was the same in halo 5, and I hated that radar. I’d really love for the classic to come back. Also, for the sweats that say “oh you want the game to hold your hand?” First off you’re just jealous that you didn’t master a useful tool in the game. Second, there’s a playlist for you, stay out of social game conversations because they don’t affect you in your “superior” playlist. It’s funny too, I’d dunk on any of you mlg people in halo 3 if I had an AR and a radar, but you’re all too bad at social slayer to handle it lmao.

Radar is definitely too small. H5 had this issue too. I don’t understand why one would think: faster gameplay therefore shorter radar? BTB shows how small the radar is. I wouldn’t want to see different radar sizes for BTB vs Arena which they did in H5. Refine the radar proximity for the entire game as a whole. 25m seems to be the sweet spot

Good to see the conversation is still going. So excited for the release. What game modes would you guys like to see on release. Infection and invasion would be great.

Shoot. I guess I play too much Halo 5, I’m super used to the 18m so it doesn’t bother me at all and I actually find it super useful. To be fair I also enjoy really sweaty Halo 5 which I know isn’t for everyone.

The motion tracker either told me what I already knew, or offered a quick flash of a red dot before I got ruthlessly gun downed and/or back smacked.
