What is everyones thoughts on the radar being 18m? I feel like its just a bit to small and people can come out of no where sometimes and not really appear till its too late, especially with BXB being in the game. I’d like to see them adjust it throughout the flights could try 25m and see how it plays
I got to admit I hate the radar as it is. I’ve literally been looking at someone in front of me an they don’t appear on it, same if they are above you. Personally I think it needs a radical rethink on how it works.

Yeah i have had the same thing, Part of me wonders if its just a bit bugged in this flight where they changed it from the last flight but then i always felt like the radar in Halo 5 was to small
I think it should be increased to at least 20.

Yeah i think if you are doing flights and they said with the new engine much easier to change things in the game so would be good if they could adjust it throughout the flights to try different varations of it. I’m not sure about Halo 5 but i know before for customs games you could change radar size so must be even easier for 343 to change it

The new engine is suppose to allow for what you stated. Hopefully it’s actually true.
When they said the classic radar would return, I thought 343i would bring back Halo 3/Reach motion tracker back. Not Halo 5 motion tracker style?
I hope the increase the range to 20 meters. And improve the visual if a player is above or below.
They should just remove radar all together. It’s a crutch that players use. Playing on these 3 maps, you can see the writing on the wall for highly competitive games.
it’s going to be a camp fest and all radar does it promote less movement on the map. Hopefully they will have a playlist with no radar, like they did with H2 and H3.

There is always different modes in the halo games that dont have a radar some im sure that will be there for people who dont like the radar

Wrong. Camping is rarely an issue. The occasional crouch ambush is employed before moving on, but that’s not camping. Camping would entail never leaving a designated room or limited radius. The perpetuation of this argument is incredibly weak.
20 Year vet and the motion sensor encourages me to move and take informed fights, chain together targets for multikills and, despite it being in the game for 20 years, is still somehow under utilized by a ton of people as evidenced by the number of assassinations I can achieve. The last iteration had me moving slowly or not at all because there was no Intel I could rely on. Period. Reaction time and a reliance on random strangers alone should not dictate success and that’s what all fights boiled down to. This is the case for a lot of OGs.
You can make the case for sweaty, MLG playlists. I’m all for that. But the notion that we have to fundamentally change the game to appease purely the sweat lords is just… Dumb. Halo 5 could get away with that fundamental change because you were never not sprinting, clambering, thrusting, shooting, etc. The last flight was horrendous… That’s why they changed it.
Increase the range to 22-25. Leave motion sensing as default behavior except in the case of crouching. Remove radar from HCS/MLG/Hardcore playlists. End of story.

I’ve also been playing for 20 years, so you must be wrong too, using your logic.
It’s my honest opinion that radar is a crutch, has and will always will be in my eyes. Halo is a team based shooter, if you play solo, that’s on you. Even though I said to remove radar, I know that will never happen which is why I said they hopefully add in a competitive playlist like they did in H2 and H3.
I can accept radar in its current iteration. If it’s increased, the movement on Bazaar is going to decrease even more than it is now. That map you literally sit in the spawn buildings and only move to mid to get rockets and OS. Once that happens, you the. Move back into buildings. It’s already hard to even push and take over their camp spot since they see you on your radar. I can’t even imagine having fun increases radar.
Also, your argument for radar and larger radius is so you can know where your enemy is, to make it easier for land kills. I’m my years of playing, you can use situational awareness to figure out where the opposing team is located. This is what makes Halo so different than other FPS. To each their own though.

They already do that for MLG/Pro/HCS settings. But the regular settings have always been incredibly popular and that is what we’re talking about. Also, H3 and Reach were never “camp fests”. I literally don’t understand you people.
It’s funny how 343 adds the classic motion teacher in to make it 18m which defeats the purpose of it being there. 343 beyond me once again…
Still haven’t fixed this even though everyone is still complaining about it
The radar is straight booty. Why even have if it, if it’s worthless? You can check your radar, and a split second later 2 or more guys come from behind mowing you down holding down the RT easy mode gun.
I never felt it was a crutch as everyone had access to it. It’s just a different way if playing the game. The older radar made it harder to get the jump on someone. That paired with the longer TTK than most games made fights about who was better skilled with the guns they were using a lot of times. Not about who got the jump on who. There is skill to the way it was. A slightly different skillset.
That said, I’m not saying I want it reverted. Honestly, I don’t have a lot of complains about Infinite in terms of gameplay.
The Radar could definitely use a bump to 25m. Even in BTB the current range just seems pretty useless and gone are the days where I can rely on it to let me know when danger is ahead and act timely on it.
At best there will be an instance where someone is ahead of me/around the corner, I take a look, and I’m being wailed on by not one but two or three or more guys. Since the range is so limited, if you decide to commit to an attack your chances of being able to retreat or change up your play are nonexistent.
And if you’ve got an enemy coming up behind you, its their bullets or even their melee that let you know before the motion sensor.
Doing the FFA Challenges, even with the motion sensor’s range being limited there it seems rather dubious that I’m playing a game where everyone is an enemy and yet its rather exceptional for me to ever use the motion sensor to assist me in FFA.
