Radar increased to 24...but still not enough

So I want to start by saying that I honestly don’t care about Halo 5 anymore.I don’t even consider it a Halo game and even if they were to add a classic playlist to bring people like me back it wouldn’t work because the core gameplay is different from past Halo games. Watch this video if you want to know what I’m talking about https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ozJnZos8Eo

Anyways the reason why I’m posting is because in the newest news update one of the articles said that the radar had been increased, which is good but it’s still too short. In classic Halo games, 25m (not 24m) was enough because they were slower paced games. With Halo 5 were sprint and thrust pack exists you would need at least a 30m radar to make the game play more like Halo. The radar is there to help players engage in gun battles. If the radar is too short then it just ends with players getting attacked from behind or beat down battles which is something players have always been criticized for in Halo games.

I guess that’s about it. I only posted this because in the main article it stated: “I think we can all agree that 24m is perfect”…yeah…we clearly don’t all agree plus I don’t want 343I ignorantly thinking that this is okay for future games.

The Halo Community won’t be the same without you, MrGiggleButts

ummmm…I’m still in the Halo Community…it’s kinda obvious considering I posted this

Let’s all say a fond memory in respect.
Remember that time he was explaining to us that the radar is just to short for a fast paced halo core.

I heavily disagree with Favyn’s video. He’s basically saying it won’t be a complete replica of classic gameplay, which is true. It won’t play like halo 3 or CE, it’ll play most similarly to halo 2. Coming from someone who has actually played classic gamemodes on classic maps, I can tell you it works fine. Favyn says that the sandbox isn’t tuned for classic gameplay, which again, true. However, just because the sandbox isn’t tuned exactly like the old games doesn’t mean they can’t work, and let’s be real here, the sandbox has never been tuned exactly to fit with the gameplay. It’s always worked, but it’s never exactly fit. Also, it doesn’t matter if you don’t think halo 5 is a halo game. Halo 5 is a halo game, and nothing you say will change that.

Don’t be fooled into thinking that halo CE-3’s radar was perfect. You could rely on it heavily. After having it at 30 meters in the beta, 343 wanted you to rely on it less, so they reduced it to 18 meters. The community said that was too short and agreed that a radar around 25 meters would be good, so they did that. Also, you haven’t played it yet, so how can you be sure that it doesn’t work? You can’t please everyone, but you can please the majority, and that’s what 343 has done here.

I wrote this for future Halo games. Halo 5 fans probably do want this like you say they do but not the overall Halo fan’s who have mostly quite playing because of Halo 4/5. If 343 wants to bring back the majority of the fan base then they need to start listening to everyone and not just the sucks ups. Even though the majority of Halo devs admit that they messed up with the previous Halo’s stuff like this just shows me Halo 6 will be the same and will loose even more players.

Actually radar promotes camping which is why every halo except 5 removed it from comp settings.

I agree with you. In all the previous Halo games I could perfectly rely on the radar to watch my back, I always looked at it but in this game I started to move the camara looking for players instead to look into my radar. Ive been getting killed by people who didnt appeared in the radar mostly because they used spartan charge and the evade thruster barely evades a spartan charge. It’s totally unfair and kills the balance aspect of a competitive game.

What proof do you have that the majority of halo players want this? From what I’ve seen, the majority wanted a ~25m radar, and that’s what we have.

Hell if you look at the competitive players most of them wanted radar removed completely for competitive play. I really doubt your theory is correct, as with the new radar not tracking movement just abilities and unsilenced weapons you could still suffer back smacks n Spartan Charges (which really need disabling in Ranked IMO)

I’m talking about regular settings, not competitive HCS settings.

Do you know why radar is removed from MLG? It’s to promote team work to find out who is the best team. Any pro will tell you that using radar takes more skill. Just look at the stats of anyone who camps. People who camp tend to usually loose when camping unless it’s a close game but that’s considered HLG which is criticized by many players. Those who usually loose to campers need to either practice more or move to something like COD where radar doesn’t exist…or you could play MLG playlist by yourself…have fun with that lol

P.S. A good way to beat campers is to crouch up to them. I’m guessing you didn’t realize that it removes you from radar.

Edit* I think already mentioned this but radar is for promoting gun battles. If you don’t like facing your enemy head to head because you’re afraid you’ll loose then Halo probably isn’t for you.

And what’s your proof? The people you’re talking about are the one’s that like Halo 5 and still play it. All you aft to do is look at the population drop with Halo 4 after 6 months. It was only getting around 10k per day compared to Halo 3 and reach which were getting over 20k per day and that’s not mentioning what they were getting when they released which was 50-100k per HOUR for 3 years each. If you believe the leaks about Halo 5’s population dive bombing just like Halo 4’s then that just clearly shows that the majority of fans don’t want the crap 343I is spewing out. You may not believe that leak but why hide the population if it’s doing as good as past Halo’s? And considering just after seven months I was already having trouble finding matches at night I would say those leaks were right.

also, the radar is 24…not 25. Unless they already changed…I wouldn’t know, I don’t play Halo 5 unless someone needs help with achievements

P.s. My friend’s list is full of Halo players that consistently played halo for years. Now none of them play because they hate the newer Halo’s…well I do have 3 people that play ever once in a while but they have every Halo achievement like me but they still don’t like the new games compared to the classics.

(Bold) I read this too and to be clear, it’s just 24m in the HCS playlist correct? That wasn’t put in across all playlists was it?

Yeah…No pros will say that ever.Radar doesn’t promote map movement because you can see nearly everything that’s happening already which causes stagnant map movement, and if you’re a pro you can essentially see everything.

Second, you can take your arrogant, holier than thou attitude elsewhere.I’m very much aware that you crouch to avoid being on radar, and I’m not afraid to face my opponents head on.I just shouldn’t need a crutch to help my awareness in the hcs/mlg playlist which is exactly what radar is.

Im sorry, did you say radar takes skill ? lol tell that to every or any MLG player and they will laugh at you, which takes more skill, making callouts and positioning appropriatly with your team to counter the enemy team or not needing them as you can use the radar to tell you were all the action is allowing you to predict enemy movements without any effort to try calculate their path on your own? Be able to predict your opponents movements without the aid of radar was always a key factor in MLG playing, so please rethink about what you said. :slightly_smiling_face:

I still can’t get over MrGiggleButts leaving

Just look at the stats of anyone who camps. People who camp tend to usually loose when camping unless it’s a close game but that’s considered HLG which is criticized by many players. Those who usually loose to campers need to either practice more or move to something like COD where radar doesn’t exist…or you could play MLG playlist by yourself…have fun with that lol

I used to be semi-pro back in Halo 3 and used to play with some pros. I’m pretty sure I know what I’m talking about. The only reason Radar doesn’t exist in team MLG is to see who is the best team, not the best individual player…ever wonder why MLG FFA always had a radar?
