343 needs to fix the radar in the next update. It’s completely useless. All you hear from other players is where everyone is. This could easily be fix by expanding the radar. Just look at Destiny. Everyone knows where everyone is. This allows you to talk strategy instead of doing the work the radar should be doing. This radar is the cause of 90% of the frustration in Halo 5.
What do you think? Are you tiered of running around looking for players or having them run up from behind you?
I really think that we should, at the very least, have a 4v4 permanent Social Slayer playlist with a 25m radar. As it stands now, the radar is truly useless. If they want their “super competitive” 18m radar in ranked? Fine. But at least give us an alternative for those of us who aren’t a huge fan of the radar as it is now.

That’s a good compromise. Leave Arena small but all other playlist including Warzone expanded.
One of the problems with competitive Halo is the past - Take Halo 3/Reach MLG for example, is that the competitive settings were too far away from the normal matchmaking settings, which alienated a certain proportion of people from playing or watching it.
With Halo 5, they wanted to make it competitive enough out of the box to play the default settings as the competitive settings. Fine, no problem with this at all, superb idea really.
But I think radar was something they had to compromise on. Traditionally competitive Halo never had a radar and was better for it, as you had to rely on your teammates positing and callouts, and your own awareness. So I guess they tried to keep this element in by making the radar super close range only.
I get the theory. But honestly I think it would be better if normal radar was restored, and radar totally removed from the team arena playlist and HCS.
I hate myself for having to say this, but it’s a motion tracker lol. Also, I like it the current range. I think the better way to balance the situation is to make sprinting louder, or make your motion tracker circle blink red if there is a sprinter coming at your flank. Something along those lines.

I agree. Leave the close radar or no radar for pros. The rest of us need a bigger radar.
I would love the radar to pick up camping crouchers in ffa. It is plain annoying even if i can normally counter them. That way players are forced into map movement and not spawn at a power weapon and kill gullible players who walk past all day long.

Just look at Destiny(the guys who made Halo). Everyone’s location is known and it’s very competitive. Still get players trying to camp but they get caught.

Doubt it, 343 don’t give a squat so long as they’re making money

I don’t think so. This last update addressed a lot of what players were asking for.

Im going to second this. Team Arena is basically my try-hard playlist, so no radar might actually force people to use mic’s and learn to communicate (probably not). As it stands in Arena the radar is worthless most of the time, However in FFA, Slayer, (maybe not breakout?) an expanded radar would be a bklessing to those players.
