Radar finally being fixed?

Looks like they’re finally going to address the issues with the motion tracker in Halo 5: Guardians. About damn time…

> The radar behavior in Halo 5 Arena gameplay is very much interconnected and balanced with a variety of other systems in the game – Spartan movement, map layouts, weapon placement, objective placement, and more. As a result, it is imperative that the multiplayer, sandbox, and HCS teams work together to determine new radar solutions that consider each of these systems and what they mean for Halo 5 gameplay. Within the studio, these teams have rushed to respond to recent feedback and test a variety of solutions with radar, without radar, and updated radar systems.

> Over the past few weeks, players and fans alike have been discussing the desire to test an updated radar that behaves differently from the current system. We too share an interest in finding a system that provides the best solution for Halo 5 gameplay – one that encourages the right balance of aggression and patience, limited escape-ability and “chaotic” gameplay, and the ideal gameplay flow.

> As a result of player feedback, teams here at 343 have been collaborating on exciting new radar options. Specifically, these updated options would give more depth to the radar, allow players to manipulate it in different ways, and give players the ability to determine which Spartan abilities / actions appear on radar. These updates will take a bit of time, however, both to develop and properly test with each of the aforementioned systems. As these updates get closer to completion, we’ll be working with pro players and teams to determine how these new options impact map flow, ideal weapon and objective placement, and more. These are all essential to figure out as we head into future seasons of Halo esports in 2017 and beyond. Developing these new options and getting them right will take some time, but the multiplayer, sandbox, and HCS teams are expediting and prioritizing this work to get something in your hands as quick as possible.

> In looking at the first year of Halo esports, we’re amazed at the level of competition we’ve seen, the nail-biting matches, and epic Game 7s that have resulted. With the help of partners across the globe, we’ve awarded millions of dollars in prize money, and been blown away by stories of triumph and heartbreak. We’re proud of what we’ve accomplished thus far, and confident in the legitimacy of competition, while still very excited about improvements that can be made. As a result, the Halo World Championship 2017 will feature the default radar systems that have been used in the Summer and Fall seasons of Pro League, while we actively evaluate new options for seasons and tournaments that follow in 2017 and beyond. Additionally, we know that HaloWC competitors are eager to begin practicing for qualifiers, and wanted to make a clear decision on this before the holiday break so that players could begin meaningful practice sessions.

> As we get closer to the end of the HaloWC 2017, the updated radar options will receive a testing period with both pro teams and public alike, with the goal of ensuring that we’re striking the ideal balance across the board for all aspects of Halo 5 Arena gameplay and upcoming seasons. The way that Halo 5 is played is always changing, and we’re working to ensure that the game is updated to accommodate this evolution. We’ll keep you posted on developments and the latest regarding updated radar systems and options.

I just hope they remember to increase the range, or any other improvements the make might fall short… 25 meters, 343i. That’s how it was from Halo 2 all the way to Halo 4, and that’s how it should’ve stayed.

Most of all, I hope that whatever improvements are made are included in all playlists- NOT just Team Arena.

its rather interesting to see they are going to change the radar. honestly it dont see the issue with it as i just got used to it the way it is.

Then again, in Reach when they updated it the game actually felt better even though i didn’t see an issue with the way it was before the update. so hopefully this will be the same!

This isn’t a “fix.” This is a discussion on how to adjust radar for the HCS.

I agree that the radar should be buffed, I wouldn’t call it a “fix”. The problem is that people move way too damn quickly for it, you couple the short sighted radar and the increased movement speed, then throw spartan charge into the mix. Haha gg, much death and -Yoink-. I don’t really think the radar needs to be changed that much, in all honesty, I’d say bump it up to 25, maybe 30 meters and REMOVE SPARTAN CHARGE, then all will be well. Spartan charge is like the unhealthy evolution of the ol’ sprint double pummel from Halo Reach, one of the main reasons people wanted Sprint out for such a long time.

This fix is for the HCS and TA. Not sure about social modes. Comp players have been asking for no radar since launch, yet now 343i are addressing it, even though most pros want it gone. An SA only radar has been suggested, however, I see no point as walking will just become the new crouching.

Social should definitely have 25m radar.

Will 343 fix this radar -Yoink- ? I mean, why they changed this in the first place.Enemy just pops out and it leads to panic aiming and melee

I like the radar how it is, and haven’t had a problem with it - Halo 5 is fast paced and good fun to play. I certainly don’t think that the radar needs “fixing”, as that would suggest that it’s somehow broken, which it isn’t.

Seeing as it doesn’t really mention how they are going to “fix” the motion tracker, and the fact that they are listening to the pro community, aren’t we just as likely to see the motion tracker nerfed since the pro community frowns upon free information?

If it were up to me I would modify the motion tracker to show sprinting players up to 25 meters, but players walking won’t show up unless they are within 15.

it should be like it was in the beta. gameplay felt a lot better.

I will play mcc until they fix this radar -Yoink-.

Pure drivel from 343. I lose more faith each day.
