I didn’t see a thread about this, but the radar in this game is god awful. It needs to have an increase on the distance it detects people. The fact that it only shows where people are when they are already ON TOP OF YOU is worthless. I felt that looking at it gets me killed more than when I just ignored it. A basic piece of standard equipment in your UI should not be so worthless, that it gets you killed when trying to use it. Which brings up the next issue, that you can’t hear where people are well enough either. I can blast my ear drums out with my headphones, and still not hear when someone walks up behind me. The radar also needs to show when people are above or underneath, just like previous Halo games.
Overall though, I’m still very excited of what I’ve tried and played. These issues however, were the most frustrating thing and need to be fixed for sure.
Do you expect to be able to hear player footsteps before they show up on the radar? Has that worked in any Halo game? You’ll have better luck listening for when they use a boost or use a vehicle or drop a flag bounce a grenade or jump/land or maybe if they climb up something. Try listening for events instead of passive actions.
Also technically the radar already does show when someone is above or beneath. Keyword: or. There’s a glow around a dot when they are on the same level as you.
Agree, the radar should be bumped up by a few meters, nothing crazy. I enjoy it in every single other way though, it just needs a slightly increased range to match older Halo’s.
Radar already tells if a player is above/below you, it tells you by if the red dot is glowing or not.
I think the radar is in a pretty good spot in terms of balance, its a tool that you use in combination with your other tools that you have. If it becomes too powerful / has too much range, players will be glued to looking at it which is not the purpose of the radar. The idea is that it adds to your situational awareness when used properly, and NOT being your do all be all situational awareness tool.

Good to know, I’ll have to check that out again, it didn’t look any different to me though when I was playing. Maybe I’m colorblind and can’t tell the difference… What a weird way to find out though lol. Kind of preferred the tiny arrow on top to indicate above or below, to be honest.
I’m going to have to disagree though with that range. It really feels like it only shows me people when they are already in my sights, and that does not do any good. It needs at least a few more meters of detection. Not a huge increase, just a few meters more to at least know what going up a ramp or flight of stairs is going to mean if the enemy is waiting at the top of them or not. All previous Halo’s have way better radars than Infinite does right now. Audio cues is also the biggest thing really hindering it, it would at least help with the shorter radar if I could hear people’s footsteps and stuff better.
Yeah radar definitely needs bumped to 20-25 meters, maybe mess with it so it’s not to much farther but ppl just appear out of no where and then before I know it I’m dead before I can react

I can hear other people just fine in other Halo’s, Infinite feels like I’m walking around deaf.
Also, that glow does not seem very obvious. I’ll check it out again when I play, but I’m wondering if I might not even be able to see it (Wondering if I’m colorblind to it). I feel like the tiny arrow on top was a much better indicator for above or below.
Maybe actual indicators instead of glowing for if the enemy is above or below and if same level just the regular dot. I do hate that a lot of times when I see them on the motion tracker, it’s too late coming up from behind. Distance should be slightly increased in my opinion.
I like how short this radar is. It’s long enough that I can react to surprise assailants, but short enough I can’t use it to stalk/camp and can still get the jump on inattentive players. I think it’s a good fit for a game as quick as Infinite is. *If they did change it, I’d prefer they increase the diameter by ~2m
I agree that the radar distance needs to be increased. To me it feels completely useless as it is. There has not been an occasion yet where I have seen someone on the radar, and they weren’t already killing me.
