Please, 343, DO NOT change the way the map works - it’s fine as it is, we don’t need to deviate from that or I promise there will be a huge backlash within the community and may cause players to drop Halo 5 altogether. Doing this takes out the long-standing “stealth” tactics that come from crouching or active camo plays. Me, personally, I might not play Halo 5 if this changes - I might sound like a kid or nitpicking, but I know a lot of people share this opinion. But, I’ll give it a try to start with and will be giving more feedback. If I don’t like it, I’ll say what I don’t like about it and what I might like about it. Otherwise, I’ll probably be playing more MCC in the future, or until the map changes back / to something better.

You do know that the Proving grounds playlist is only a test that will last for about a month and they will change the radar based upon the results of the test. And personally I am predicting that most will want the MT to still detect if an enemy is regularly walking while still making the radar 25m instead of 18m.

I see. I heard through my friend and he didn’t go into much detail about it.

Here I shall link the original post for you. Here
The fact that 343 are even considering to change the radar is ridiculous. It has worked the same since halo 1 and now they are changing it for now reason other than too appease a vocal competitive minority. All I see this doing is people will just be walking around all the time especially because there is no advantage to sprinting other that to get power weapons faster.

Again this is only a test. The test will last for about a month. And they will change settings based upon player feedback after the test. So give the proving grounds playlist a chance and then tell them your thoughts on twitter or waypoint.
I happen to think the changes that look to redefine the motion tracker into more of a type of radar should work quite well within Ranked playlists. As a change for all of Halo though, I’m not so sure.

If they’re going to do any radar changes for ranked they should include hardcore playlists that feature no radar at all.
I think it’s a little early for criticism. We don’t even know if this will be actually be implemented or what playlists it will affect. If it does happen, it should go in the playlists that traditionally didn’t have motion tracker in the past like Team Arena for example.
Halo 5 is already arguably the sneakiest Halo of all time with:
- A really powerful camo
- Reduced motion tracker range
- Sneaky clamber ledges all over the map
- Silenced weapons
I don’t see why this needs to be pushed further…and I think that fans of the “pro” no radar gametypes from previous halos are a small minority.
On another note, team play seems to dominate the pro level play even more than past halos in halo 5. I would attribute this to the faster ROF on weapons increasing the effectiveness of team shots, and faster movement speed allowing teams to get angles quicker. If the goal is to allow for more “big plays” by a single player, it should not be achieved by sneakiness but by tweaking the ROF and slowing the movement speed to give more reward for accurate shots again.(IE the CE pistol or halo 2 BR) I think Halo reach had the right idea in this direction, but the they chose the wrong mechanism with bloom.
