I use default controller settings. When I press up on the D-pad yellow circle appear on the radar, and I hear a blip. A yellow diamond also appears next to my GT. What is this?
You’re pinging so your teammates can find you.
Like snickerdoodle said It’s just an extra tool to help encourage and aid teamwork. It’s actually pretty useful if used correctly. Even when I’m playing with a team of 4 friends we use it, and it helps a lot.
I remember the first time I accidentally discovered this, I was like what the heck? I think it’s a pretty neat tool.
Odd, always assumed that meant someone was asking for a vehicle ride.
Adding on what those two have said, pinging your location has some uses. In my experience…
- You can signal the location of enemy players after you’ve found them, particularly for Infection. - If your mic was broken (or you don’t have one), tapping up on the D-pad can serve as a crude form of communication. - It can also serve as a distress signal if you’re caught in a bad situation.
This is what my friend and so were thinking, thanks for the answers!
I generally tap it when I’m about to charge an armory or trying to hold a base by my lonesome in warzone; 'C’mon lads and lasses the battles over here!"
