R.I.P BTB and vehicular gameplay.

Since you can spawn with the PP it’s most definitely going to break vehicle combat.
any BTB game you get in will just be filled with plasma pistols and will completely destroy the gametype.

What are your thoughts?

Covie BTB doesn’t break the game…

I’m hoping you won’t be able to spawn with PP’s in the final game or it’ll break many playlists.

That still doesn’t tackle the issue, if your in a scorpion or other slow moving vehicle your going to get hyjacked or destroyed EVERY TIME.

Meh its not like we’ve ever had a recent Halo game with good vehicular combat. Halo 2 was amazing but ever since then there has been something majorly wrong with vehicular combat be it the game-breaking Spartan laser from H3 or the game-breaking health system from Reach, to hear we can have PP starts in H4 is no surprise considering there are so many bigger potential issues.

Starting with stickies is a bigger deal IMO. Vehicles are going to have no chance against my excellent nade tossage. :wink:

Not to mention that armor lock no longer exists… It balances things out. Vehicles should be good but they should be crazy hard to destroy like in Halo 2. I love Halo 2 BTB but you’d have to be a pretty good liar to say the vehicles weren’t beyond OP.

Game-breaking Spartan Laser in H3? You mean that having a CLEAR counter to heavy vehicles like the Banshee,Tank, and Wraith that really was the replacement for the lock on rocket launcher from previous Halo’s which took SKILL to take down vehicles affectingly broke BTB?

Health system that made you play more smartly with the vehicles and separated good and bad drivers/pilots was bad for BTB?

I am going to let you in on a little secret, vehicles are POWER weapons in BTB they have to have draw-backs and counters or we end up with completely unbalanced vehicles and parties of 8 spawn trapping with tanks and banshees to their hearts content.

I used to play some Major clan matches in H2 and SB in H3 and I can tell you for certain H3 had the best balanced vehicle play and good mixture of infantry and vehicle combat. H2 sucked because you had the SMG to start alot of the time and the rocket launcher(the only real counter to the heavy vehicles) was not as effective as the Spartan Laser in taking down vehicles from afar.

The PP EMP is to give a soft counter to the vehicles when anti-vehicle weaponry are not available on the map preventing slippery slope situations in which once you get the vehicles you win.

Stickies + PP off spawn = lol H4 BTB

This is one of those things that you cannot judge until you play the game itself. From what I’ve read, the Plasma Pistol’s tracking has been hugely nerfed, and we don’t know how much damage a vehicle can take from a grenade before exploding.

And let’s be honest, were Plasma Grenades really THAT amazing against vehicles before? From what I’ve seen, most vehicle sticks end up with the player getting splattered or shot down, making it a suicide tactic. Frag grenades are much easier to use against vehicles for people who aren’t good at sticking.

If the new grenade type disables vehicles then they’re going to be death traps.

Just shoot them first…

I’m sure all the “slow” vehicles are now faster, remember, all have Sprint…

Assuming that players are going to get to spawn with PPs on vehicle based maps and that any loadouts featuring PPs won’t be defaulted to Magnums.

You do know that the Halo 4 PP can barely lock on to anything. People have said you have to actually walk into it to get damage.

I can only hope that they thought of that when they put it in. Hopefully the PP is nerfed EMP wise from before. Plasmas don’t seem too bad from the Longbow footage a warthog got stuck dead on and was ok afterwards.

Really now it will break vehicle combat? DRM, sniper, rocket,SL,and nade are more effective than a pp. elites spawned with them in reach and it worked fine. Please explain how a pp will change vehicle combat.

From what I’ve seen from the RTX gameplay, it looks like vehicles will be a bit more durable

(Example: the warthog took 2 plasma grenades and was still standing not flaming)
