Don’t know if you you guys seen the gears of war 3 horde mode, but i did and was very impressed and i don’t even like the games. I was thinking that they should do this. You play as different units of the an enemy and have to destroy the other team. each kill gives you money/credits and the more you have the more units you can buy/unlock.
I agree with that i would make a nice new addition to the game. It would probably change up the style of game play and force people to play more like a team.
firefight you only control spartans, elites if in vs mode. and there is only 1 faction you face: the covenant. i really think itd be cool if you can be flood, foreunners, covenant etc in this type of mode.
So you mean something like this:
Plasma Pistol Grunt
Needler Grunt
Fuel Rod Gun Grunt
Plasma Pistol Shield Jackal
Needler Shield Jackal
Carbine Jackal
Beam Rifle Jackal
Drone
Hunter
Brute Minor
Brute Captain
Brute Chieftain
War Chieftain
Minor Elite
Spec Ops Elite
Ranger Elite
Major Elite
Ultra Elite
Zealot Elite
General Elite
Field Marshall Elite
Honour Guard Elite
Arbiter
Firefight Versus.
It’d sure be better than FF!
> So you mean something like this:

> Arbiter
I think you need to narrow that down a lil. For instance just one type of grunt with both plasma pistol and needler available. No fuel rods for them in my opinion. They should be cheap infantry with non-power weapons.
if only the covenant were still the enemy.
> if only the covenant were still the enemy.
Who gives a damn in a firefight similar gametype. No need to be canon there
well. what if lets say in a slayer game (like slayer in all of the other games) u also fight against a group of A.I’s. and each team gets points for killing the opposing team and the A.I team. kinda like firefight and slayer mixed together.
> > if only the covenant were still the enemy.

Really has nothing to do with canon… why waste so much time coding the old Covenant enemies into Halo 4? That would take up much needed memory for other gameplay features, and in the long run hurt the game overall.
If the Covenant makes a return, maybe.
But if it’s an entirely new enemy, the coding required for the old Covenant enemies would be directly hurting the coding for the new enemies. Things like models, textures, A.I. (Probably the most significant), animations would basically halve the amount of memory that they could use for new enemies (Forerunner or whatever they decide).
I don’t know if Beast mode is Halo to me. I’d actually like to see more a Spec Ops mode in Halo 4, because that was a ton of fun in Modern Warfare 2, but I don’t even know if that would be Halo. I just don’t know what other features would please me in Halo 4. An improved Theater and Forge would obviously, but as for fresh and original ideas, I think Forge and Theater is as far as it can go. Of course, I’m just not thinking about it hard enough.
Beast would be cool if they managed it correctly.
Halo has Firefight. Which is awesome. Firefight and Horde [for gears 3] is hard to really say which is better. At times I’d say Horde with it’s more in depth system but Firefight for it’s open more larger scale.
Yet Beast mode is something Halo Reach does not have. And Halo 4 could. Yet as Firefight did better then Horde in ODST I believe Halo 4 can beat it.
First off make it as customizable as it was in Reach. Then add a Flood mode, Covenant Mode and “WHATEVER WE FIGHT IN HALO 4 MODE”. This means we will have literally 3 ways to play this game.
Flood Mode would consist of “Infection Swarm” -You literally control a huge number of “poppers”, humans are easy kills, ODST are a few and Spartans would take a lot. Weak thing to play as. “Baloons”-Yes the guys that blow up. They would deal heavy damage, of course would be slow. Infected Human: Weak but agile, hard for CPU’s to hit. Infected Elite: Keeps some shields, stronger, but slower. Infected Brute: Same as Elite but weaker. And Pure Forms.
Covenant Mode has Grunts, Grunts Heavy, Jackals, Infantry Jackal (needle rifle/carbine/w/e], Sniper Jackal, Drone, Hunter, Elites (Blue, Red, Ultra, Honor Guard, Zealot) Brutes (Standard, Captain, Chieftain) and Prophets (Prophets have very high shields, and can fly, hard to unlock)
Other mode I can’t tell. Yet Sentinels would probably be a part of it.
Also make it so while playing Solo the player would have CPU allies.
I think such a thing would be fun, very fun if done right. Plus with Halo’s big open maps, vehicles, it would surely beat Beast mode.

If what you’re saying is implemented, it good be very awesome.
Essentially it would be matchmaking, except one team would be Spartans, the other either flood, convenant, and/or Halo 4 enemy. It would be amazing if done correctly. It would be very hard to find a balance in gameplay, however it would bring new life to the series to play as a completely new character, much less the enemies we’ve been fighting for over 10 years.
I can only reply with one thing if someone wants to play as anything in the Haloverse/game: Halo: Battlefront mode.
Just one problem. Slow Elite combat forms would be like H3. It would be pathetic. We need Elite combat forms that are faster when they charge at enemies (like in CE and H2) or that gain speed the longer the battle goes on (like the H2 Shadow’s turret rof), giving them more priority than the other combat forms.
True I assume Elite Forms could just be stronger of that tier. I’ll use beast modes tier system.
Flood Mode_
First Tier- Infection Forms (light) Infection Forms (Heavy) Baloon
Second Tier-Combat Human, Combat Brute, Combat Elite
Third Tier- Pure Form (Turret) Pure Form (Tank) Pure Form (Pure)
Fourth Tier- Transforming Pure Form (Can turn into turret, tank or pure at will)
Covenant Mode_
First Tier-Grunt. Shieldless Jackal
Second Tier-Jackal, Jackal Infantry, Minor Brute
Third Tier-Heavy Grunt, Jackal Sniper, Minor Elite, Brute Captain.
Fourth Tier-Red Elite, Drone, Chieftain, Hunter (Beam)
Fifth Tier-Honor Guard, Ultra, Hunter (Fuel Rod)
Sixth Tier-Zealot, Ship Captain.
Bonus Tier-Arbiter (Can pick loadouts unlike other Covies) Tartarus (Gravity Hammer has 2x range then a normal Hammer and can even push and pull objects, including people) Half Jaw (Can duel wield swords and most HP of any Elite)
Before making new game mode, they should make Firefight feel right and awesome as Horde 2.0 did. Halo Reach firefight is a complete jock even compared from ODST or Horde 1.0.
But, I like ideas in this thread so far <3
Reach is better however needs more challenge. Weapons should not be unlimited and health should be more scarce.
The A.I and Maps are good. Also there should be an option for how aggresive A.I is. Low, Medium, High. At High enemies will charge the player regardless.
I think instead of barriers there should be unlockables. Tiers of them. I say
Tier 1-Extra Health Stations, Extra Ammo
Tier 2-Weapon Drop, Turret Drop
Tier 3-Warthog.
tier 4-Guess(spelling) Hog, Rocket Launcher, Over Shield
Last Tier-Marine/ODST allies (depending on mode and other factors. Can be from 20 to 5)
> Covenant Mode
Another problem. It would be implausible for Jackals to travel without shields (unless they were Halo: Reach jackals. Then they don’t need shields).
Anyways, I think it should be like this:
Tier 1: Grunt, Jackal Minor
Tier 2: Jackal Major, Brute Minor, Jackal specialist (needler, plasma rifle)
Tier 3 (special): Jackal Sniper (carbine, needle rifle), Grunt Ultra (plasma pistol)
Tier 4: Brute Major, Elite Minor, Drone
Tier 5 (special): Grunt Heavy, Jackal Sniper (beam rifle, focus rifle), Brute Captain Major or Brute Chieftain (random)
Tier 6: Elite Major, Brute Captain Ultra, Hunter (fuel rod), Grunt Ultra (needler, plasma rifle)
Tier 7 (team of highly trained generals and veterans): Elite Ultra, Hunter (assault beam), War Chieftain, Elite General or Zealot (random)
Arbiter, Tartarus, Half Jaw, etc. would be stretching it (although Arbiter would be pleasant to have around).
