Quitting Matches

It is a rare occasion that I can play a full match without someone from my or the opposing team leaving the match. This is an issue that is very frustrating to me whether or not I am on the benefiting side. When this happens it is quite a feat for the undermanned team to win the match. There needs to be some sort of incentive to not quit from a match. I think the best solution would be a matchmaking timer that prevents a player who quit from jumping right back into matchmaking. I’m sure there are many other solutions, but I do feel like this is a major issue and needs to be addressed before release.

It’s the beta, there is not going to be lockouts, punishments for douchbaggery. Wait for the final game and then react if the same -Yoink- happens.

Pre-game, imo player rank and stats should be hidden from the lobby until the post carnage report. Too many people attempt to grind games against lesser ranked players and quit from the lobby the moment someone with a higher rank shows up. Takes forever to get games going.

Mid-game should have a lot of things occur when someone quits. 1) habitual quitting mid game should be punished 2) ranking should factor in the missing player 3) excessive team quitting (like half+ team) should provide players a forfeit game option.

Also - side note - going afk for too long should auto-quit the player from the match and remove them from the matchmaking queue.

Josh Holmes stated their would be high penalties for AFK/quits. It’s a beta right now so it’s pointless to implement them.

Good! I hope they also add rewards for people that play and complete consecutive games. Come at it from both sides with both the stick and the carrot.

I think a forfeit game option would be a good addition. Players could vote and the vote would have to be unanimous but it wouldn’t count as a quit though it would count as a loss. I would only allow that in Social games though as I could see it being abused in ranked. That feature would have to be vetted appropriately for sure.

I typically quit the second I know I will lose, generally after one of my teammates who is a semi-pro or pro has quit for fear of losing KDA, they typically leave within the first 10 kills, after the game hasn’t gone exactly their way.

Typically I find that once in a while, a semi-pro or pro is an absolute powerhouse, but more than not, they are actually very much so average players who have achieved their rank through dumb luck.

I have no shame about quitting when I am already down a player or 2.

When you say they will have stiffer penalties for quitting, I don’t think that will matter. People who get a high rank will always quit because they put their KDA above their W/L.
