Quitting in Arena Needs to be dealt with

Too often I have lost matches in Arena because of teammates. Not just because my teammates are having a bad game, but because people get killed a couple times and decide this match sucks so they quit. This leaves your team down a teammate and a lot of the time its difficult in game types such as Slayer were its hard to have a map presence when there is only 3 of you.

We either need join in progress, harsher penalties for constant quitters, or loss forgiveness.

How can you gain CSR when you are constantly down a man? Very few matches I’ve played in Arena have stayed 4v4 the whole game.

You’re right. 343 needs to implement quality maps, more maps, more playlists, and increase variety across the board. That’s the only way quitting can be “dealt with” in a positive way.

They have pretty hefty penalties for those who are quitting in the form of bans. Just players will end one ban and go in play a few and start quitting again.

Actually, maybe people should stop being little whiners and just try and play through a loss?

The amount of times I’ve seen my whole team quit after going like 15-8 is ridiculous.

How would that help?

Ummm…it would help ensure people are playing games they want to be playing…

Adding a social playlist or Solo queue playlist will alleviate this in my opinion. Most often than not the team that is dominating a match is a premade of 3-4 players on comms while the other team is full randoms or even couples paired.

By adding a solo queue playlist it should promote more even matches and if one team still dominates at least you will know you just got out played period.

Or adding a social playlist where rank isn’t tracked or affected but you get less exp/req points would be nice also.

Every playlist is social if you don’t care about your rank… How can so many people not understand that?

Maybe they should try a different game if halo lacks what they want? Why waste other peoples time quitting over a game type you know halo 5 lacks or a bad map that you know might be picke… People just need to tough it out and not be wimps over not getting what they want.

Right…because Team Doubles, BTB, Team Snipers, Action Sack, Objective-only playlists, Invasion, etc. are NOT CLASSIC HALO PLAYLISTS? Is that right?

There are a TON of Halo playlists which SELL copies of the game that are missing from H5 at the moment. H5 is also riddled with dreadful maps. Guess what, 343 is not some infallible, perfect, divine being. It’s OK to recognize them as the collective group of imperfect humans that they are. It’s not condemnation and automatic sentencing to an eternity in a fiery hell.

I’m not saying ALL quits are excusable. I’m simply pointing out that begging for further banning action BEFORE the rest of the game arrives is both unwise and unnecessary.

Agreed. More playlists won’t fix this - I’ve had quitters in matches in all game modes I’ve played, especially in Swat or the weekend playlist. You know, where the gametype is always the same.

Quitting due to map choice is even worse of an excuse, too. Why is it that people only find some maps enjoyable? If you don’t like the gametype, having your favorite map won’t make a difference, and vice versa. People just don’t want to play when they lose, and having a system that only bumps rank for wins/losses hurts solo players more than ever before because of this.

A solo search algorithm would help immensely, or at least not matching full teams with solo players (it is very obvious when this happens).

Here’s a crazy thought . . . maybe people are playing SWAT only because they can’t play the playlists they want to play…because they aren’t presently in the -Yoinking!- game? Crazy, I know. Super ridiculous.

Lol. Again, why play if they’re going to possibly quite? I don’t give a -Yoink- if the quitter is here only cuz there’s nothing else to do. Its selfish to join a game knowing you might quit period.

Atleast twice I’ve been abandoned by my team and left alone to fight against 4 very skilled players.
Even so, I managed to put up a fighting chance, as they’d be off their guard and careless.
There should be a system that increases the points for each kill depending on how many players are on each team, so that a kill a lonely player might get would result in 3 or 4 points in a Slayer match.

So a lack of playlists (I agree there are a lack of game types) gives me the right to quit just cuz? That’s all I’m getting out of this. “They don’t have oddball? -Yoink- I’m going to quit slayer games cuz of this”. That supports me as I said people are just winps who won’t tough it out if they’re going to play KNOWING after launch that the game lacks it.

Why are you talking about 343 to begin with? I don’t care about their work or how they’re doing their job, I’m talking about baby’s that still play this game.

The problem isn’t too few maps or the maps themselves, it’s the fact that everyone wants stats that are currently beyond their skill level THAT’S why they quit. Everyone wants high k/d and to reach the higher tier crs.

What they don’t seem to realise is… even if you quit out of all your matches, only staying in the matches you do well in, once you reach those higher tiers you’re gonna be matched against a lot of people who are supposed to be there. You’ll still run into people who have done the same quitting route but mostly it’s people who are consistently skilled enough to be there.

Now I’m not great at the game, and my k/ds not consistent to say the least but all in all I’d prefer to be where I am at the moment and face similarly skilled people than be diamond or champion and face people who are gonna kill me 9 out of the 10 times I see them.

There’s no shame in playing at your natural skill level. And you’re not going to get any better by only picking good matches to pad your stats.

Edit - I’m platinum 1 and climbing, solo.

This doesn’t really make any sense. On another note, I’m not sure what the quitting penalty is, but it doesn’t seem bad enough to deter people. About one in five games either someone on my team or the other team quits. Quite frustrating. I love the game though.
