Quitters, quitters, quitters… and more quitters

Ranked quitters, social quitters, all sorts of quitters.

My game crashed during a rank game and couldn’t join back. League of Legends lets players rejoin their game after crashing, Halo should too.

Well why play the game if you can’t play a mode you like and you can’t make any progress?

Not to try and give excuse to the real quitters… but I’ve had my game completely close out on me mid game and I couldn’t rejoin my ranked match… I know not all just get their games to crash but I feel it might be something 343 should look into

I’m just saying, that’s the mentality. I’m in a match right now but would rather browse the forums than play CTF again when the shade turrets I need are destroyed, there’s no stalker rifle, no banshee, and it’s not stockpile.
All I want to play is slayer but, not only can I not choose that, I can’t even progress if I could. So why bother playing? That’s why people are quitting. Or AFKing, like I basically am right now (to write this), because I’ll get nothing out of this match. It’s not even fun because I don’t like CTF. But, quitting gets punished, so here I am.

The current system is going to decimate the playerbase.

There’s no point in staying in an uneven match. When I load into a map and the first thing that happens is I get a sticky grenade on my face and a sniper-shotgun blast from the other side of the map, and know I’ll end the match with not only not achieving any kills, but without taking a single footstep away from the spawn point, there’s no reason to stick around. That isn’t fun, and it doesn’t feel good. Enjoy your bots.

If only there was such a thing as skill-based and input-based matchmaking. It’s too bad that kind of technology doesn’t exist. Oh well.

I have “Quit” from 3 games out of 10 maybe 12. I didn’t quit tho, the game crashed and I got booted to the dashboard.

Maybe I’m old (only 30) but when I was younger we played games because they were fun…

The progression needs work but if progression systems are the only reason you are playing a game then there is a problem that you probably need to address.

343 had SIX years to deal with quitters. And what did they do? exactly… nothing. Voting system to forfeit? nah. Input based MM? in ONE ranked playlist. Let people only play ONE gametype? nah. Rejoin matches? nah. Reward people for staying in the game? nah. Voting on gametype and map at start? nah.

I seriously question what the teamwas doing the last years, if they ever played there own previous games or competitors ones.

The core gameplay is nice but, almost everything else is just so unpolished I wouldn’t even call it Beta.

Progression system may not be the only reason, but it is a lot of the reason people keep playing. If I start up the game and just get curb stomped the first two games, I might just stop for the day. But with the progression system there’s actually a reason to keep going instead of just playing something else for a week.

I am so glad they decided to remove quitter penalties and remove the report button. That way the game can die waaaay faster.

Did you read the first part of what I said?

All I want to play is slayer but, not only can I not choose that,

I would LOVE to play this game for fun. But, can’t do that either. Also, customization is fun, but only really if I can make myself look how I want. Which requires unlocks. Which requires progression.
Again, want to play this game for fun but currently cannot.

I did read that but how is that a progression issue? It sounds like a matchmaking issue - and I agree, ideally we should be able to hop into playlists that are a bit more granular.

Quitting a game should count as losing 5 games in terms of rank loss

It’s not. I’m saying, I can’t play for fun because I can’t do that. I can’t play for progression because the progression system is garbage. So if I can’t play for fun and I can’t play to progress, why should I play?

That’s why people are quitting.

Yeah this is getting out of hand for my games too. A lot of DNFs, even in ranked. Social, I get it. But in a ranked playlist, that is some true heresy. These maps are BRUTAL 4v3 or even 4v2. Hope some new playlists open up to alleviate at least the people who just dodge objective modes.

These ranked quitters are ruining the experience completely. Why should I be penalized for my teammates leaving? And if my teammates fail to load into the game or even quit right at the beginning, why should I have to take the L?

Not everyone you see who left a rank game quit voluntarily. Just yesterday my game crashed during ranked games at least 3 times.

Adding a penalty on top of losing rank from a crash doesn’t seem like a great idea at the moment.

I’m happy with how quick players get filled…but it’s still an issue. I’m really not sure how you fix it - Apex and Fortnite get passed the quitter issue with their gamemode - doesn’t really matter.
