I think certain playlists (the most obvious being HCS), in order to deal with players quitting mid-game, should impose a temporary ban for quitters. This would ensure more matches are fair and players learn not to start a match they will not be able to finish. This has been a very prevalent problem for all Halo games, and very frustrating for anyone who wants to have an even match. Players losing rep points or whatever the current punishment is does not seem to be working.
Personally, I am sick of playing matches where the rest of my team quits when we are losing or even before the match begins. This has become so bad, I often lose interest in playing Halo after a few matches. What do you guys think about this?
They have JIP for warzone. Arena I suppose it’s bad luck to gamble on randoms.
A two-month ban for every two disconnections (intentional or otherwise) should be sufficient. Quitters should not be tolerated in any gametype.
I heard this solution a long time ago and its still my favorite:
Don’t let them join matchmaking until the session they quit ends. If someone quits because they have to leave abd cant help ot, it doesnt affect them; they arent going right back into matchmaking. It makes it useless however for someone to quit matchmaking to find a “better” group, because its as if you played the whole match in the amount of time wasted waiting.

A 2 month ban? Really?? You want people to not play the game?

Lol get out of here.
2 minute ban maybe.

JIP definitely helps, but does not completely solve the problem. This on its own would make me enjoy MCC a lot more. Maybe the best solution would be to have JIP for all playlists except HCS, and HCS have some kind of ban system.
The reason all playlists can’t have this system is because this may deter less serious players (which is a huge margin of players), and may ultimately reduce the game’s popularity.
2 months seems a but excessive. I think I could forgive someone who lost power or had some kind of emergency, but I do feel your frustration.
2 minutes is way too little.
I was thinking around 2-3 days is best.
You know what’ll happen if you implement a quit ban any longer than 15 minutes? You’ll get players who change inputs and watch TV while idly pushing their sticks, totally defeating the purpose. The best way to stop quitting in theory would be to provide some sort of incentive for staying through the game, but the problem is finding an incentive that people care about. I quit approximately 1 in 3 games in the days of Halo 3 because I didn’t give a damn about experience.
How about we nuke their houses?
Kidding, I doubt we’ll see anything more than a ten minute ban, maybe more in ranked playlists. 343i wants people to play their game.

I think they will be just fine playing any other playlist. They sure were before HCS even existed. I am just proposing this for the HCS playlist (which I assume will be added). The punishment must be severe to have any impact on this problem.
A small Ban of 10 minutes is fine. Do not exaggerate with more than 1 day, there are people who leave for different reasons, they can not always be in the matchs, multiple players have problems with his Internet.
One day may be fine, but no less. 2-3 days might be a bit much, or maybe not. Just look at the success of CS:GO’s multiplayer. This playlist should be for players who are serious about the game and want to improve. You can’t be too sympathetic or it won’t work.

But they need to be sympathetic, the audience is mostly casual, if they are tough with them, they will quickly stop playing Halo 5. We do not want that to happen again.

So even if this is implemented for just the HCS playlist, you think people will stop playing Halo 5? Even when they’re free to play the other playlists (which Halo players have always been comfortable with) while they wait for their ban to end?
If Halo hopes to be a competitive esport, I think serious players need to have a better place to play.
Personally, I don’t see how this would hurt the game’s popularity.

I agree. We need all the Halo players we can get now-adays. We can’t have anything else to push the new ones away. Maybe a drop in skill or reputation, but not a severe ban.
I agree, I’ve only done it once. Not in HCS though. 4 of us on a fireteam they get kicked before launch but not me. As soon as they were got 3 replacements and match started I got 3 kills died and one guy said hurry up last match of the night I quit and joined them. I think it was swat so. And I suck so no loss. But I hated it but I play with friends first. To old to worry bout pro.

I like that idea as well.

I think that’s a great idea for the other playlists, but I still believe HCS needs to have a more strict system. I just don’t see how having a playlist for serious players will do any harm. To me it’s more likely to attract more people to the competitive scene.

2 months come on that’s just ridiculous.
Quitters will be punished with CSR penalties and MM bans, this has been confirmed here under the MM section.
