Quit Crying its called Combat Evolved for a Reason

I keep hearing all this whining day after day! Too much added to he game. It’s not like the old game. I don’t like to sprint I’m out of shape! I don’t like the REQ system. They keep moving the guns around. It goes on and on and on. It’s a game that is meant to evolve. If you keep it the same year after year it would soon loose popularity Ive been playing from the beginning and Im glad they change things up and add new things. It keeps my wavering mind interested. Face it the game has survived this long and I foresee many more years!

It was called “Combat Evolved” for marketing purposes, just so you know. It had nothing to do with the actual game or gameplay evolving.

Good things are good. New or old.

Bad things are bad. Even if they are new.

Microsoft demanded something more than just “Halo”, think it was on one of the “Making of Halo” discs with the Halo 3 legendary editions.

Yup, pretty much. Bungie was just going to call it Halo, but Microsoft felt “Halo” on it’s own sounded too religious and that it would confuse people on what type of game it was, so they came up with “Combat Evolved”.

Whats the purpose of this thread?
The game is called “Guardians” and not “Combat Evolved”, CE was the first Halo game…

You know what’s funny about you kids saying innovation is necessary, otherwise the game would “lose popularity”?
It’s that you’re factually wrong. Halo’s “evolution” (in the main canon) correlates very well with a drop in popularity: Halo | Video Game Sales Wiki | Fandom

343’s the type of studio to innovate their way right out of business, just to please a few COD and Titanfall fans.

Call of Duty seems to want to prove you wrong. Halo’s population also seems to want to prove you wrong.

You know OP, you’re not the first and you won’t be the last to make a thread like this. And do you know what threads like this do to the complaining about Halo?

ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.

Except it isn’t called “Combat Evolved”. Halo 1 is called “Combat Evolved”, but not Halo 5. Just because it was once called “Combat Evolved” doesn’t mean that all the crap added to Halo 5 was necessary. If it was necessary, than CoD wouldn’t still be the top selling console shooter right now. Halo is adding all these modern shooter elements to play catch up with modern shooters like CoD and Battlefield, yet it is still lagging behind them because people don’t come onto a Halo game to play CoD or Battlefield, they come to play Halo. At this point, nothing Halo does will help it regain the popularity it once had. It used to be the flavor of the month, but now it isn’t, and adding stuff like sprint, ADS, loadouts, or microtransactions won’t make it better. I feel Halo would do good to keep the loyal fan base that liked the games for what they were rather than because they added a fancy new animation that had negative effects on gameplay and required a butt ton of balancing to make it even remotely, well, balanced. Halo doesn’t need to try to attract a new audience, and if it does, then clearly it isn’t doing a very good job, now is it?

COD has keep its gameplay and such close to the same and I don’t see it losing tons of popularity… say what you want about it (I’m not a fan of them either btw) but they still sell really well.

Also just want to point out that as soon as Halo “evolved” (reach and after) Halo has become way less popular then it was. We can sit here and argue as to reasons why this is, but the fact remains, it isn’t. It’s not the “it” game anymore…heck it’s not the “it” FPS even and those are facts I’m sorry to say.

Has Halo survived? Sure… But is that what halo strives for now? …just surviving??? Man I hope not… It’s sad if so.

The game should be “improved” upon its formula, not adding things up. Halo lost its reputation and popularity by changing, rather adding unnecessary things to the game. People are criticizing Halo 5 to make Halo better in future. Don’t just call them “whiners”. There is a plenty of threads and comments regarding the bad things about Halo 5 in constructive way and with evidence backing them.
