I know this topic is somewhat debateable, I know a lot of people hate quitters in past Halo games so I was really interested to see what everyone thought of quit bans in Infinite.
I was under the impression that quit bans were not in Infinite since there were bots that would take over if you were to quit. Also being able to matchmake in-progress matches was supposed to help this too. In MCC quitting ruined the game for everyone else, but in practice I think its more debatable in Infinite given the aforementioned reasons. With that being said, I got a ten minute ban for quitting two games because my challenges are for quick play objective game types and I have no reason to stay in a game that is just slayer. I also donât want to stay in a game where no one is playing the objective; this stretches out the game that I canât earn anything in to over 20 minutes at least if no one is scoring. My real life schedule doesnât allow me to play long enough to have time to play games that I donât want to play or that my challenges are not available to earn in. I think others are in a similar position.
Ranked quitting is way different IMO, since youâre usually not grinding challenges in ranked (at least I donât), and those spots arenât filled. I donât think they should be removed but theyâre pretty brutal considering my first offence for two quits was ten minutes.
What do you think should be done about quit bans? Is it a system that is perfect or is it designed for something that isnât currently present in the game? If they plan on expanding the playlists later on, are the quit bans still sensical in social?
Yes, they should absolutely have quit bans in social. The bots are hardly a replacement for real players, and itâs not guaranteed a new person will always join the match. However they need a ârejoin matchâ or something to not penalize people that âquitâ because their game crashes or something.
They should make separate playlists so people actually pick the game mode they want to play, instead of being forced into random modes they donât like in the first place.
I am fine with the quit ban on the ranked because you are doing it for to be ranked and there is no bots in that.
For social, it shouldnât be the case (I know many wonât agree). If I just want to have a non-competitive time and just have a good time playing halo, social is the way to go and be able to have the ability to leave with no consequences. Unfortunately some Halo players treat the social playlist as if they are playing ranked or take it way too competitively. Sad but true. If they wanted to be competitive, ranked it there. If anything, MCCâs ban system is way too harsh, even when you are playing non-competitive. Halo 5 wasnât to bad but still would like social to not have the ban hammer.
There is also the otherside where the dedicated servers can crash and disconnect the players mid-game which is can be unfortunate. Disconnection can happen.
There is JIP in socials, so if someone quits, a new player will spawn in. And those new players (so far) seem to be keep the average skill in that team, so it wonât hurt anybody. Getting a quitban, will only make the players who are not enjoying themselves to go AFK (wich will leave you effectively in a 3v4 situation) or (in slayer) purposely walk up to the enemy and give away free kills so the match will end quicker (leaving you with no chance to win). So please let those players leave then.
With JIP in Infinite i enjoy my games way more then in MCC, because you know that all your teammates want to play and they also all try to contribute. The number of AFK-players is way way way lower now. I love it!
In my opinion I think quit bans do belong in social modes as well, but they surely must have the tools to be able to detect what is an abrupt disconnect from a match due to poor internet and what is a blatant quit. I donât think you should get banned straight away for quitting whether you do it on purpose or not.
It should be maybe 2 or 3 games, but get harsher. But the biggest problem is legitimate disconnection due to poor internet stopping people from playing it absurd. Something definitely needs to change.
Not surprisingly, 343 was so strict on âLEAVERS.â The quiters ruined their last two multiplayer Gears 4 / Gears 5. It was obvious that the company was going to get super strict with âabusiveâ people.
When you leave a game you are ruining the game for 7 other people and you deserve an exemplary punishment.
You will enjoy on the moment u play SLAYER 3 people from your team GET OUT AND ruin it for you, ah you will not be happy, surely you would come to complain that they punish the leavers
I was auto-banned for âquittingâ too much in BTB/Quickplay matches (EG: non ranked)
This is an automated system that counts how many times you leave before a match ends fully.
My big issue isnât that it exists - itâs that I never actually quit. I have been crashing frequently and havenât found the cause. None of the troubleshooting has helped either. ON good nights, I crash twice an hour. On bad nights i can crash 8 games in a row.
The worst of it is⌠when I crash⌠there is no error log, there is nothing for me to even begin to troubleshoot with. Just⌠the game froze, then crashed to desktop and I get to reload. Itâs not temps, itâs not CPU/GPU/Ram usage, itâs not Disk Space, Iâve had all sorts of programs running to find the âcauseâ - even tried another ISP and have not sorted it out.
Back to topic though⌠the Bans are fine, as looking into the system it is a âtime outâ more than a âpunishmentâ system, with gradually increasing times of âno playing for youâ, but it really should be able to determine actual crashes vs quitting, and a crash log would help that. (and weed out the fake-crashes of closing the game etc)
Been running into cheaters frequently, donât want to play when the opposing team never misses a shot. I can flag them for cheating, but I dont want to sit in a unplayable match. Social ban should just not exist & as for bot replacements, should swap them out with Spartan ranked bots.
If I need to âwin 3 quickplay matchesâ for a challenge and someone quits out in the first second because itâs not a gametype they want to play theyâve effectively wasted 5-10 minutes of my time as weâre not going to get a win with a bot on our team.
I also file a report in the game and a report against their Xbox gamercard too.
I play gametypes that donât help me progress as I donât want to ruin the experience of others.
I think they should add different playlists to help the situation though.
