I just got disconnected on YOUR end 3 games in a row and got banned. I have never quit a game. You banned me for your own problems. Get your shot together and get off of microsofts garbage azure servers.
Actually they work quite well and have had very few problems. Halo 5 is a lot pickier on it’s connection requirements. Let me find a previous post that will tell you how to fix your issue.
Ban thread is stuck to the top of the section. Have a nice day.
Ok, for people that get disconnected/have poor internet.
Set Xbox to energy saving mode.
Get into your router settings (google make and model of router)
Set up static ip to xbox (also set it up on router)
disable upnp
disable sip nat filter and set it to open
disable dos protection and port scanning
put xbox ip address in dmz
on router set dns to manual and use google dns addresses, 8.8.8.8 for primary 8.8.4.4 for secondary.
once you have all of that done, go to settings/network/ advanced settings on xbox, go down to alternate mac address and click on it, clear mac address and restart xbox.
You won’t get booted out of games anymore.

My internet is just fine. I don’t normally get disconnected but it wasn’t any fault of my ISP today. I was in a foreteam and wasn’t the only one disconnected with different ISPs in different cities. I don’t need a public facing DNS. I’m not going to put any devices on my network in a DMZ lol. I have QOS for my Xbox set to highest I can get. This was their issue today, not mine.

I know, I posted in it a couple days ago and got absolutely no response.

So it was only in the fireteam you were in? Yours is the only post claiming server issues today? Obviously 343’s fault, what was I thinking? Ban times keep getting longer, have fun. Also, I am very sorry to have doubted you, I know that you seeing your internet was still up far outweighs my countless hours of finding the cure for disconnects. I humbly apologize.

Personally, I would skip this step. Unless you live in a very austere area, you will find that Google provides one of the slower DNS options you can utilize.
I have had zero issues with disconnecting today so I don’t know what to tell you. I’ve had to quit out of a few Grifball games due to the opposing team exiting the arena though.

Do you know what some of he things you suggested even do?

Well, the correct way would be to download namebench and run it, it would tell you which dns service is faster. But Xbl seems to like google dns and I didn’t want to over complicate things.

Yes, all of them. Been running them for quite some time on trash internet with no problems. You do have to watch out for that international gang of hackers that want to look at your achievements though.

Agreed. In an effective network troubleshooting process, we try to keep things as simple and stable as possible. That’s another reason why I wouldn’t recommend to the average person that they change their DNS settings.

I had to set the primary and secondary dns on my Xbox One’s network settings to connect to Titanfall servers, still using it. Do you know why those work best? Just curious

A lot of the problems seem to stem from the dns proxying on current routers providing inefficient routes. Changing to google or open dns actually made the biggest difference especially with people getting booted from chat parties.

I really don’t know why. These azure servers work amazingly well, but they are very very picky. Used to be, if you had an open Nat you were good to go, sadly I believe those days to be over.

I understand what you are saying, but that may be an unnecessary step. In my experience, the root cause of people getting booted from chat parties typically seems to be related to maintaining open NAT, not using generic DNS settings. The other procedures you described will effectively help the end-user obtain open NAT.
My friends get kicked for various reasons all the time. It happens to me every once in awhile. It just sucks when you’re in a party and that one person gets dropped and you either have to play the next game without them or quit and risk getting banned yourselves. I totally understand why it can be so frustrating.

Just checked to see if my Xbox was still set to those addresses. Dang thing is stuck on automatic, every time I change it to manual and put in the numbers, it goes right back to automatic >.< - owell, the only lag I usually get is the REQ menu in game.

All I know is…It works very well. I went from always feeling a second behind my opponent in a firefight to being well ahead. And previously I have tried port forwarding and all manner of other fixes. I’ve always had an open Nat and still had problems with disconnects and people dropping out of party chats and fireteams. Changing Dns addresses made the largest difference.
