Quit Banned? Really?

Ok, so I was playing some DLC playlist game and got into a few JIP games where there was scores like 4-0 or slayer where it was 20-50. I quit these games because it was not going to matter whether or not I was going to be there, my team was still going to loose. I’d rather look for a game where I wont loose every 5 min…

So I have quit 6 games in the past two days and now I have a 60 min ban. That’s just ridiculous. I could under stand 15 min maybe for 6 games in 2 days, but a whole hour? Really?

Have you guys has similar problems/is this something that should be patched in the next tu?

It seems if you quit too much you get banned, I don’t agree 100% as it will only drive gamers away to other games or consoles, bottom line if you don’t want the ban don’t quit,

Or, do the time if you do the crime as they say. If it was me I would play another game.

The games that I did not jip quit were pretty fun, it’s not like I quit every jip game as well, just 6 in the past 48 hours (look at my record if you want). The ones where it would be a waste of time. Why have a jip system in the first place if you get banned for quitting 6 games?

This ban system needs to go or needs to be toned down from 60 min, at this point I might as well pop on BF3 saying as I can’t play H4 even if I wanted to…

Like I said, I don’t agree 100% with the bans but I see the need to address or attempt to address quitting, if it was me I would be off to Gears or Battlefield like you said,

The danger of that is, if I then get into that I won’t be back after the hour is up, and that needs to be considered.

If you quit 6 games in 48 hours, how many games did you actually complete?

I have been quit banned before and I had to quit a lot more games than that to get banned. I also didn’t come to the forums to complain about it, because I deserved it.

I don’t think the OP is disputing the ban but the length of that ban, and I can see issues there, if it’s that long players will go to other games or consoles and that’s not ideal, 10 or 15 min bans are adequate,

I got banned in Reach and deserved it, I put the the kettle on and got back on once my time was up, if it was the hour I would be off to Gears or something else, and as a gamer you’ll know once you’re that long into a session you probably keep going,

Halo 4s’ on line numbers are low enough without driving more away.

This is why I am saying this needs to be fixed. If jip was not a flaming pile of fail we would not even be talking about this. CoD has a jip system that dose not seem to have as many problems as H4’s and CoD players are not banned from playing the game when they quit games that they feel like quitting.

In all of my Reach days I was never banned, I still thing this is all ridiculous.

If you are so interested you can go look at my recent games list. I completed games I did not quit, what kinda question is that?

And that’s awesome that you feel like you should be banned from a game for playing it :stuck_out_tongue:

yeah im still waiting to be unbanned so I just went to play cod. and im having more fun, and im playing games with no lag woohoo! Im starting to believe cod is better than halo, errrmagerrrd!!!

Can’t disagree with you, I got banned in Reach, but as I said above it was only 10mins or so, kettle went on made a cuppa and went back.

Hopefully they see this thread.

Jip quits maybe shouldnt count.

But they do, so don’t quit.

I agree with you too, If I picked up an hour ban I would be on Gears or Battlefield, and probably not back that day, just like you have done,

Better with short bans, an hour or more is far too long.

It could be worse too, Counter Strike bans can be far worse, over 100 hours in some cases, I know this from research not experience lol.

You are right, and that could be a fix. That’s why I made this topic, maybe someone at 343 will see this and the possible ways to fix the problem.

I’d rather be able to quit un-fun games so that I’d have a better time with the game than to be fearful of getting banned for leaving a un-fun match.

The problem is quit bans are automated, they do not know why you quit, I got banned in Reach for quitting as I was sick and tired of being killed for power weapons,

As stated I do see the need to stop quitters in some instances, but it’s a hard thing to do, I go with 10 minutes, it’s enough, more drives players away, as has been shown by this thread.

Edit = And as you say not if JIP is in force, different where there’s no JIP.

Ban is now over, but so that this dose not happen to my or anyone else in matchmaking further down the road I still think there should be a change to the quit ban system.

>Take it out or make it less than a lot less than a whole hour.<

According to your stats tracker between today and yesterday there are 12 quits not 6. Just sayin

Meh, I think people are having trouble moving over from “gottta win gotta win” to “I gotta get 10 kills and 1 death” or something like that.

I’ve quit a few times, I was tossed into ungoing games, or during set up everyone in my team quit. So I WAS ALONE in like team regicide or swat against 4 people. How the #!"# am I supposed to win this? So, I quit. Hate to think that a lousy matchmaking mechanism will get me banned for not wanting to sit around for 4 minutes and get killed 30 times…I’ve quit 3-4 times past week due to this lousy matchmaking system.

48 hours from when I was banned it was 6. I hope you took into account the single player missions I did not finnish

I’m probably about to get forever banned from Halo 4. I have yet to be quit banned but I can see it coming. JIP in Team Majestic is just plain ridiculous. I absolutely can’t find a game that is about to start. Every time I search I JIP in a game that is un-winnable with terrible teammates facing a full team of “must wins”. Must win is my new term for tryhard(since tryhard seems to offend people and make “must wins” ask the question “why wouldn’t you want to TRY HARD?”). Seriously, I’m tired of joining in progress. If the game was dumb enough to match me and my randoms against a full team it should just be ok with us quitting it. I’m not staying in matches like that and if the game wants to punish me for it I’ll just laugh my way to Black Ops II home of the 60 second ban(so I’m told… haha).

Remember the good old days of Halo 2 and Halo 3 when for the most part people would match up with ranked kids in ranked playlists and casual kids in unranked/social playlists? The days when matches might end 4v3 or might end by the entire other team quitting out? Was that a problem? No, it wasn’t a problem at all. If matchmaking is causing people to have a bad enough time to where they quit then that is matchmakings fault. The only people that should get banned are people that quit within the first minute of the match or in pre-game lobby because they are crying about the map selection. I know that suck it up mentality kinda contradicts what I was saying throughout my whole post but seriously… It’s just a map, play it.

JIP is a terrible excuse to try to fix the many fails of the matchmaking system. It usually 90% of the time does a horrible job. My favorite thing about Halo 4 and JIP is the lack of JIP in throwdown with the ability to quit pre-game lobby making the game un-even before it starts. -_-

I used to stick up for Halo 4 but with every passing day it’s starting to become a more frustrating experience.
