Well, until just today, I had no idea there even was a quit ban on this game. More than a little bit frustrating to me, because the only reason I’ve been quitting as many games as I have was because of the new join-in-progress system and my (apparently false) assumption there were no consequences. This lack of transparency and the lack of a warning system is absolutely unacceptable, but I’m not here to rant on that. I can’t find any specific information about what triggers the ban. Does anyone know the following:
How many games do we have to quit to induce a ban (perhaps expressed as a percentage of total games played)? Do quit games accumulate over time? Over what period of time? When, if ever, are quit games dropped from calculations (aka, does it ever reset)? Where can you find out the information about your account to keep track of your risk of being quit-banned (since the game doesn’t bother to warn you as Reach did)? Perhaps most importantly, what are your sources for this information? Is there an official announcement by 343 somewhere that actually tells us all of this or did they really just do this under the table?
I don’t think it has so much to do with the amount of times you quit, but the frequency at which you do so. So quitting 7 games out of 10 is worse than quitting 15 times in 75 games.
We don’t know for sure, but it must be a pretty large number because I’ve never gotten one, and it’s for an hour. And as far as I know, they never announced it.
> This lack of transparency and the lack of a warning system is absolutely unacceptable…
I think the lack of transparency is intentional so that people don’t find ways to circumvent it. The more people know how the system works, the easier it is to exploit.
I can understand them not wanting to fully divulge whatever algorithms they use for this, but at the very least I’d like to know if my record can ever get cleared. I seriously had no idea there was a penalty, and with join-in-progress I didn’t feel guilty leaving because I knew someone else would come in to help out the team. I’d quit for frivolous reasons I never would have considered in previous Halo titles, and it’s irritating to be slapped with this without so much as a warning. I support the idea of quit ban systems, particularly when there is no join-in-progress, but dear gods, at least tell us it’s there and give us warnings! I’m afraid to even play the game now because I don’t know what the conditions are! T_T
I just go AFK instead and make some pizza rolls after I quit a few JIP games in a row. I could go on a tirade about how they should have encourage people to stay by balancing lobbies on skill, good connection, w/mics and grouping quitters together instead of punishing people who are victim to their terrible matchmaking and JIP system.
Instead I will simple say go play another game, this game is garbage and there are many, many titles available whose developers listen to the communiy and try to please their customers instead of running the business like an angry tyrant ignoring the pleas of their fans as they demolish the franchise, filling the voids they created with gimmicks and armors which in no way make up for the broken gameplay and lack of playlists.
I don’t want to quit this game, and I don’t have the dismal opinion of it that you seem to, ItsFatherAndSon. Honestly, I had no serious complaints about this title whatsoever until today and the unpleasant discovery that yes, there is actually a quit ban but no, we (the game developers) not going to tell you that there is one or warn you when you’re treading into the danger zone. Even the Reach system, for all of its flaws, was better than this. I love join-in-progress, but it sent the message to some players (like me) that quitting had no penalties. I’d sometimes quit whenever I noticed someone on my team idling, for example, or if I’d played Exile or Ragnarok so many times in a row I was sick of the monotony. Now all of those are counting against me! The real question is: for how long? When, if ever, does the slate clear now that I actually know there are consequences?
My account was baned too. but the thing is that i almost never quit for a match, so i really dont know why my account was baned and i really want to know how long this baned thing is gonna be on my account? if someone know please reply.
Thanks
Oh, my account isn’t banned wholesale. I got a 60 minute penalty - without warning - that explicitly stated the reason was for quitting too many games (which I thought had no penalties associated). You can get bans and probations for other reasons, Rick. There’s a thread in the matchmaking forum that vaguely lists them out and that is specifically for those issues, and you can look here (official XBOX Live descripion).
I read here somewhere that the quit ban kicks in between 10% - 15% games quit in a certain timeframe.
Not sure if its true or not I’m just repeating stuff I read here.
Quit bans usually last 60 minutes but excessive repeated quitting might result in longer bans.
I too have received the quit ban on occasion due to leaving laggy games.
Aussie here so when I play there are bugger all people online and usually some guy living in Mongolia has host so I do quit from time to time.
My ADSL up/down speed is fast and reliable as is my ping so the issue is not on my end. Just thought I’d clarify that.
I miss the regional matchmaking filter…
Quitters frustrate me and make my game less enjoyable.
Stop quitting, solve everybody’s problem.
Lag frustrates me and makes my game less enjoyable.
343 enable regional filter option, solve everybody’s problem.

I’m Australian too, I know how you feel. It’s pretty annoying how often Halo 4 lags for me, when Halo 3 and Reach were fine in their hay days. The best I can manage is to play at very specific hours to maximise chances of getting local hosts, and even then that only does so much :P.

Bad players frustrate me when they make me lose and make my game less enjoyable.
Stop going -16, solve everybody’s problem.

I would not mind waiting a few minutes to be matched with local people rather than quitting 3 games until I am matched with local players.
Hmm. I guess I’ll just have to be more mindful of it. It’s still ridiculous that they don’t even tell you that it’s there, especially with join-in-progress.
No more dropping out because I notice someone on my team is idling or in some other fashion simply being -Yoinks!- or morons. I’m going to miss that feeling of liberty I had when I thought I didn’t have to put up with those kinds of people: I could simply drop out of the game, penalty free, and find teammates who play the game and don’t -Yoink- around. No more dropping out because I got off on a really bad foot in a match and am doing more harm than good by staying on the team. I’m going to miss that feeling of dropping out and doing a service to the team by sparing them an off performance. No more dropping out because I notice some bad lag and get lots of black screens. That one in particular is just going to be painful and may result in me doing much hiding in corners and spamming auto-sentry until the lag either drops or the game is finally over.
Yeah I love how this works out, the servers lag and they either kick you or you leave. Happens enough and instead of helping they issue 60min bans lol.
Can say this has been a really eye rolling type of night.
Oh well once isn’t bad I suppose but at least if I do get a ban I’d like for it to be because of something I actually did, not something I hardly had any control over.
