Quit Ban and how it's not solving the problem.

Firstly, I don’t want to hear the same old argument “stop rage quitting and then you don’t have to worry about it” … I don’t rage quit, I quit when I’m forced to play a game-type I never wanted to play in the first place.

There shouldn’t need to be a quit-ban, and here’s why… the multiplayer format is completely illogical. It finds you “x” amount of players for a game, and then you’re locked in. Call of Duty and Battlefield don’t have quit bans, because they don’t need to have them, because you can enter a game already in progress.

But that’s not all. Even if you kept the format how it is, locking in “x” amount of players, there’s another problem: each playlist shuffles not only maps, but game-types as well. So, say I want to play a game of Slayer, on the video game I purchased, well, I now have to a) hope for that option in the voting to come up and b) that the majority of players wants the same game-type. Otherwise I’m forced to play a game-type I don’t enjoy, or am not in the mood to play.

Considering that I paid 60 bucks for the game, and am paying yearly for xbox live, I don’t see how you can set it up this way and expect people to not quit. Especially when you get into playlists like Action Sack… some of the game-types in that playlist are horrible (IMO), where others I absolutely love. But again, it’s completely left to chance that I end up with the option to vote and a majority of people who think and want to play exactly the way I do.

When did video games become a democracy? Whatever happened to Custom Game options, where you can set up a game and other people could go to Quick Match and would throw you into a lobby waiting for enough players to start the game? I don’t want to get too far off the topic here, but I will say that I am hoping that 343i can solve what Bungie never cared too. I have high expectations for halo, because it’s my top first person shooter, and one of my top fave games… that being said, the frustration is making me realize, it’s just a video game, and if it stays the way it is, I will be straying from Halo and right into the arms of their competition: CoD and BF. It’s not an empty threat, it’s just that there’s absolutely no logic behind the current way of Halo Mulitplayer.

343i, this is my plea. I won’t be purchasing Halo Anniversary, because I can’t support you, if you aren’t solving the issues. I’m already not waiting for Halo 4, because it won’t be until I’ve talked with friends, or read reviews and forums and videos to know whether you’ve fixed the problems or not. It’s a sad day when a fan no longer anticipates your progress.

I understand, that with Reach, it may be too late to fix the issues I’ve brought up. I don’t know enough about programming and such to know what you are or aren’t capable of doing over xbox live with updates, but I hope you can find some form of solution. Hopefully you read this, and if you have, I thank you for your time and hope to see some changes.

I would have to agree. I’m constantly being forced to play games I don’t want to play. It’s not even fair, really. It’s my money, my game, my xbox and Halo’s pretty much the only game I play. I love it and hate it. I’m constantly getting frustrated when I see that stupid " you have left too many games recently " message, and then I have to choose between not playing for 10 minutes, or playing a game I hate.

Something you didn’t mention is the fact that, being booted, or having connection errors are considered “quitting” as well. And what about when you have people who quit on you, and it’s now 4 v 1. How is that fair? I’m not going to lie, there have been times I’ve taken the 10 minute ban, switched over to watch some TV while I wait, because it’s a 10 minute ban, or 10 minutes of sitting and waiting for a game to end. There’s no difference, other than I find TV more entertaining during that time.

PUH LEASEEEEE fix this 343!

If you want to play Slayer, why don’t you just go into Team or Squad Slayer?

And, technically speaking, the various license agreements mean that Microsoft and whoever else can set it up however they want. You paid to play. Not say how it should be set up.

It’s harsh, but its true.

If you wanted to play something specific couldn’t you just start up a custom games lobby and invite your friends?

If you have enough xbox live friends, yes. I rarely have two friends online playing halo.

team slayer and squad slayer have more than just Slayer, they have slayer, elite slayer, slayer dmrs, slayer pro. all different game-types. you don’t always get the slayer option, sometimes not at all. and again, majority rules.

Invite those two friends and get them to invite their friends and so on, it worked for me.

Spoiled kids.

In Halo 2, you had zero choice in what you got other than choosing the playlist. No veto or anything, just “Assault on Burial Bounds” and that’s it.

Where’s the Whhaaaaaaambulance when you need it?

I payed $60 for the game too. We all did, for the most part. We also pay for Xbox live. The world doesn’t revolve around you. If you want to play with other people, you need to follow some basic rules. Just because you’re super picky doesn’t mean you have the right to ruin the game for the other seven or more people playing.

The quit ban exists to prevent jerks like yourself for ruining more games for us, the other paying customers.

You could use the “Well I paid $60” to excuse griefing or cheating, too. “It’s MY game, why can’t I take a DMR that shoots plasma mortars into MM?” Because online play is for other people, too, and the rules exist to keep it as fair and fun as possible for everyone.

If you don’t have enough friends to roll the customs you want, that is entirely your fault. It’s not that hard to pick up randoms, and there’s an entire forum here dedicated to finding other people to play with.

If you can’t deal with that, go play Angry Birds, since in that you can’t screw over other people because you’re self-centered.

A Custom-Game Finder/Server Browser would solve everything. People would only join games that they know they will enjoy. Alas, people have been asking Bungie for ages for this feature (since around Halo 2) and especially when Halo 3 came out with Forge and extensive custom game settings, but we still didn’t get it. I think Bungie thought a Custom-Game finder would take too many people away from regular matchmaking…which it probably would tbh. I would never go into matchmaking if I could find the exact match I want to play at any given time.

so you’re mad that you CHOOSE to play a game, knowing that you may or may not get the gametype you want, and then if you don’t, you quit, leaving your team at a disadvantage (and potentially causing them to wait due to host migration) before the game even starts, and that you get penalized for it?

sorry. no sympathy here.

if you want to play a game with a drop in system, go play CoD or Battlefield.

blah blah people, my main point is that you shouldn’t be locked into a game. Call of Duty doesn’t and Battlefield doesn’t and those are their main competitors. You talk about the game being ruined for you when people quit? My idea would solve that problem too, since there’s always people wanting to play. Bam, now you have new teammates. So, your point is moot, as my solution would solve your problem too.

Yes. The solution to Halo’s problem is go play the games of their main competitors. I’m trying to solve that problem with my suggestion lol so many trolls these days.

“blah blah blah” nothing. i COMPLETELY get what you’re saying. and i disagree with it.

you don’t have to like it by any means and you’re more than welcome to go play CoD or BF. like i said in another thread, just because another game has a feature/way of doing things, doesn’t make that method better. there are pros and cons to both and automatically ASSuming that another game’s way of doing things is “better” is a huge leap in logic. in order for it to work the same across all the games would mean that all games work and play the same way which they clearly do not.

and no, having people just jump into the middle of a game after someone quits would NOT solve the problem of being inconvenienced. 90% of the time, i don’t want a replacement teammate just showing up halfway through the game or when it’s 45-50 already. no thanks.

what if my team is getting stomped, 40-11 and a new person jumps in. do you honestly think someone is going to stick around when their team is down by that much? i sure as hell wouldn’t. i’d turn around and quit right back out. which is the same problem, all over again so your “solution” isn’t really one at all.

> Yes. The solution to Halo’s problem is go play the games of their main competitors. I’m trying to solve that problem with my suggestion lol so many trolls these days.

seriously??? the poster with what…5 posts? is calling ME a troll? lol, that’s funny.

here’s a tip - don’t insult the people rebutting your arguments, it makes you look childish.

> Yes. The solution to Halo’s problem is go play the games of their main competitors. I’m trying to solve that problem with my suggestion lol so many trolls these days.

Other than the fact they’re both shooters, the competition doesn’t really go beyond that. They’re not directly in competition as such.

Again. You have no rights. Play nice. Your only right is that you can access multiplayer unless 343i or MS say otherwise. That’s all you’ve got.

The reason CoD and Battlefield allow you to drop out at will is because the game is mostly centered around the individual (especially CoD). If the teams are uneven, it really isn’t that big of a deal. Being down a person in a 4v4 game of Halo ruins the game, because its such advantage for the team with an extra player, that there really won’t be a question of who will win. Can you imagine what it would be like if people were constantly coming and going in a Halo game? It would be stupid, because that just isn’t how Halo works. Not to mention the host selection takes forever and the game would pause every time someone joins.

Grow up and play the gametype that gets voted for. Quitting ruins the game for everyone else, and the quit ban should be much, much harsher to get rid of losers like you.

> what if my team is getting stomped, 40-11 and a new person jumps in. do you honestly think someone is going to stick around when their team is down by that much? i sure as hell wouldn’t. i’d turn around and quit right back out. which is the same problem, all over again so your “solution” isn’t really one at all.

I do this in CoD unless I’m joining a team of friends… being down 40-10 isn’t fun for anyone on the losing team, unless it’s an “action sack” gametype.

To the OP - REALLY? REALLY??? You’re going to complain about the gametype choices in ACTION SACK? Do you even know how ridiculous that is? It’s ACTION SACK… It’s not “Uber-Pro watch me go 30-0 K/D” playlists… it’s for fun (you know, the main point behind a game)

No.

But I think people should probably get a temporary tax on the credits gained if they quit.

And in case anyone hasn’t noticed, the quit ban isn’t stopping anyone from quitting. There are just as many people quitting as there were without it. That’s my point. It’s not solving anything.

I’ve quit so many times, they took away me gaining credits. I laughed because they don’t mean anything anyways lol
