Quick Time Events and Co-op

How will the quick time events work during 2-4 player coop? Will everyone just do it at the same time?

Or what if your buddy runs ahead of the group, will the quick time event just trigger for him or will all players just suddenly be thrown into it?

There are quick time events? Urgh. I did not know that. Hopefully they aren’t too common.

It will probably just happen to one person, whoever hits it first. The others will probably be able to see it happening though. That, or it will happen to everybody, and they will just be teleported back to where they stood previously after it happens, we’ll see.

Yes, you can see them in some of the trailers, and if they’re not quick time events they’re cutscenes that look like they could only work for one person(still gameplay actually, not really cutscenes)

This. There goes Halo’s fluidity and openness. :frowning:

Either in Co-op it could be disabled, or it could just be for one person. I don’t think it’ll be too big of a deal.

I don’t think it’ll ruin the fluidity and openness, though…

There is yet to be proof that there are actual quick-time events… the scene where Master Chief punches the Elite and where Master Chief opens the doors could just be a scripted first person scene linked to a cut-scene

as far as campaign co-op, has 343i stated if local co-op would be available with the original campaign? if so, who will be that other buddy? Halo CE[A] and Halo 2 had you playing as a copy, in H3 you were the arbiter which changed the story and cutscenes a tad bit, which were awesome in my opinion. so who is your other buddy going to be?

It surprises me how few people actually know the difference between quick-time events and first person cut-scenes. FPC’s are what we see in Halo 4. QTE’s are what we see in BF3, where it’s like a FPC, except you must press buttons to progress. Just for future reference…

I can’t think of anyway for this to happen and not destroy the immersion.

I think it was Frankie or Josh Holmes said that it’ll just be a duplicate Chief, a la Halo 1. It wouldn’t make sense, they said, to have someone else there story wise. Obviously then, co-op in Halo 4isn’t canon, unlike Halo 3’s co-op.

I don’t think it’ll destroy the immersion. This is just something new they’re bringing in, and with all the focus on character and story 343i is doing, I’m sure the engagement will be more than satisfying

You people really need to learn the difference between QTEs and first person cutscenes. They are largely unlike one another.

I see two simple ways to handle it, either every player gets to try to finish the QTE and if anyone fails all have to restart (not likely), or…
The player hosting/party leader gets all the QTE events/commands while the others just sees the movie/cut scene displayed. If party leader manages the QTE everyone can continue, if he fails everyone fails.

Where have quick time events been confirmed? I haven’t heard about any yet…
