quick question about halo4 memory on HDD

I usually install my games because i dont want the disc to spin while im playing to avoid unnecessary heating and noise.

i currently have h4 game downloaded (7gb) and a separate halo 4 war games file downloaded (2gb) total 9gb. if i delete the 7gb file, will the war games still play off of my HDD or will it make the disc spin?

thnx

OP, i’m a little confused, TBH. But from what i know, if you delete the 7GB, you are basically deleting the entire game. You need that to run War Games. However, i deeply understand you installed a copy of Halo 4 into the HDD, but little friendly reminder. Beware b/c there is a high chance if the download is corrupt in anyway, that’ll kick you right out of the game. I recommend playing with the disc, to play it safe.

you need to install war games to play war games. i am keeping that install in, however i downloaded the whole game so i could run it off of my HDD instead of having the disc spin. i am asking if that is even necessary. i wanted to know if just having the 2gb war games download was enough to run war games off the HDD

I’m sure the disc will spin as it will still have to pull data from the 7gb file. Which includes UI, sounds, textures, etc… I’m not 100% on this so if anyone else knows different please let me know.

if no one knows i will test later or tomorrow and update the thread.

i only play MM on halo 4 so getting rid of this bulky 7gb file would be pretty helpful if i dont need it to play off the HDD

you need it unfortunately. wasted 20 min reinstalling disc 1

If you have the game downloaded, what disc are you talking about?

EDIT: I re-read your post and I think I understookd what you meant.
You have a Halo 4 disc AND a GonD version of it, too. (?)

I have no evidence. But I guarantee it’ll spin the disc. That 2GB will not be a stand-alone multiplayer game, its just an extension of the 7GB actual game, for example that 2GB isn’t going to contain any weapon models, because all the weapon models are already in the 7GB game - and more importantly the engine won’t be in there either.

Can always just try it n reinstall after.

Oh, ok…then I really couldn’t tell you, b/c I tend to use the actual disc rather than download.
