would playing in Reach coustom games/matchmaking without a hard drive effect the sound at all,
because i don’t have an HDD (don’t ask) and when I use certain guns, they sound weird

No.
No, your HDD has nothing to do with your sound.
Check your audio settings.
If you don’t have a hard HDD I don’t know how you can compare the sounds with and without anyway.
I’m going to guess you play on one XBox occasionally that has an HDD hooked up to a different TV, etc. and that you play on yours without a HDD hooked up to your TV, etc.
What you need to look at between the two XBoxes are anything dealing with the sound.
Does one use component while the other uses HDMI? Does one use RCA for audio but the other uses spdif?
Does one use a stereo and the other TV speakers?
That’s the kind of things you want to check.
