quick cyclops question

can someone tell me what these guys are good for?

besides combat medics

do they ever kill anything?

are they REALLY building killers?

lets put it this way

If you have your army out fighting their base wondering where their army is
a cyclops surprise attack will be the worst case scenario
Pluss my friends and I saw them take out a scarab with little to no effort.
(We lost the battle to a entire army of cyclopses. I mean who would expect that. We just made a bunch of anti vehicle units knowing they were forge and we got creamed.)

Their building killers and if theirs a good amount their great anti vehicle units

In high level Standard play, cyclops are useless. They actually do a good job as building killers in reinforcements though!

If you play party 3v3 then you should know most high level games are ended by rushing you can use cyclops when an enemy covenant leader is attacking your teammate send 1-3 cyclops to their base and if they dont recall they’ll lose all of their buildings… I sent one cyclops once while they were rushing my teammate and it destroyed three supply pads and left the main base red bared(covy bases are very weak)

oh yea and they’re ok against an arbiter that isnt upgraded it takes like 3 hits to rage it down wasting alot of the enemies supplies, they can also manage to kill it.

cyclops are infantry, so watch out for flamers/jackals.

Cyclopses are generally a waste of effort but the can be usful to support tanks ect. I once sent a group of cyclopses in with my spartans stole a few of thier vehcles and had the cyclopses sit and repair them during battle.

Also they have a few epic moments like when they decide to rip off the turret of a downed tank and use it as a club for a while, or pull a chuck of a base/buliding and throw it at something. things like this make me laugh and send them in anyway :slight_smile:

If you upgrade your cyclops all the way and research adrenaline, they’re literally as fast as warthogs. It’s funny.

They’re worth it if you have Spartanks late-game you’re interested in keeping.

I like pushing out 2-3 at the start to take down rebel bases quick and cheap.
Then keep them to repair vehicles and base.

Also, if you can send 3 tanks early game to the enemy and then pelican 3-5 cyclopes in to that base, you can do some heavy damage to reactors or unit buildings.

They are fun to play around with… no doubt about that, but they’re UNDERPOWERED.

They are pretty slow and don’t get to the unit they’re trying to attack fast enough. I only use them to repair my grizzlies.

Back when I have Xbox Live, I did my own Cyclops rushes…

They worked perfectly, destroying buildings left and right. Get a teammate to use flamethrowers, and you can take down leaders. A couple Cobras, and your enemies are decimated.

Cyclops are key homie, at least in deathmatch anyways.

Of course everyone plays differently, but this is what I do.

I build cyclops for a couple of reasons.

1 I like to star up my spartans, if I can get them starred up its almost a guaranteed win. So I’ll attack with my spartans and then run them away when they are about to die and let my cyclops heal their units real quick, then do it all over again.

2 if you can get a spartan in a cobra and then surround it with like 10 cyclops or more, it can take one hell of a beating without dying. That’s a really good way of getting it starred up.

3 A lot people that use cutter like to rush your base and continuously drop ODST units on it until it is destroyed. Cyclops are a perfect counter for this stupid tactic. If you have enough cyclops on it you can heal the base faster than they can damage it. Then you can just put one spartan tank where they are dropping the ODST and just feed off of the free XP they are dropping in your lap. This always gets my spartan tanks starred up because most people are too stupid to realise that they are just helping me out.

4 If you are fighting against Anders, keep your cyclops bunched up somewhere close to the fight, but not in the fight. If she freezes you or shocks you with those dumb gremlins you can run your cyclops up and heal your units. This will usually keep them alive long enough to get mobil again.

  1. If someone decides that they are going to set up a bunch of cobras, and then have a bunch of wolverines behind them so that you can’t get your hornets in there. Build a crap load of cyclops. You can walk them right up in there and crush those cobras. As the cyclops slowly get picked off by the wolverines or troops they bring in, build tanks to replace them with, then bring the tanks up because the cobras are now dead.

  2. They are building killers, but the truth is the hardest part is getting to the buildings without dying. The most effective way I have found to this is to build a lot of them, I’m talkin like 15 or 20. Then build 1 or 2 hornets and fly them out behind the base. As soon as the hornets get behind the base transport your cyclops. This will get them over there without dying most of the time. This is hard to pull off, but if you can do it you can take out quite a bit of the base, if not the whole thing, The only problem is that they will be on you quick and they will kill the cyclops so be ready to build a counter attack of tanks, cobras, hornets or whatever.

Thes are just some of my tactics for using the cyclops. I know we’ve played each other before, so you know that I know what I’m talking about. Hope it helps, and can’t wait to kill you on the battlefield!!! lol
