I am not going to argue the points for the 1-50 ranking system. I would love Halo 2’s system, but those arguments can be made other places, to be honest I know people won’t change their minds either way.
Personally, I would like something other than the progression system, whether it’s 1-50, or something else, because I don’t have the time to get to an extremely high ranking. I play a decent amount, and I will only be playing Halo. But at this point in my life I have a lot of things going on other than playing video games (unfortunately).
With the system that is more or less, play a bunch, get a high rank, I am bound to stay as a low rank. No chance to compete really at all.
But with something where wins/losses and personal performance is taken into account, rather than just sheer time played, I can have a decent rank and I can achieve something.
I like playing games to achieve things, it’s just another reason to come back. With no chance to compete in the time factor, I feel like there should at least be something for those people who want to compete, want something to show for it, but don’t have the time to play hours daily.
Edit: TL;DR: I don’t have the time to play hours every day, but I want to be able to achieve something with my time based on my skills.
