questions~

Just some questions.
1: why cant the plasma rifle in halo 4 open up like the other ones to cool off faster? and what i mean is, why cant i hit the reload button and open it my self?
2: Why no uzi or dual wielding?
3: whats up with the default thruster pack? i can hardly dodge with that. i was hopping for it to be like evade was in reach :frowning:
4: Why is every one calling for a nerf or removal of the DMR? i don’t think its OP its a bit weaker than a BR (if all 3 shots hit) and people saying ā€œA true skill player can just shoot a driver outā€ is ridiculous. you should see me with a sniper i blow. I’ll take melee/ bolt shot any day.
5: Why so much hate for 343i? i think they did a grate job. sure the rankings system is poo but that’s not why i play. Sure you can only look at your friends file share but come on there gonna fix that sooner or later, hoping for sooner.

any ways im just voicing my opinions and just wanted to see what you guys thought as well

1: It wasn’t designed that way
2: It wasn’t designed that way
3: It was designed that way
4: People are cry babies
5: People are cry babies

Theres no plasma rifle in Halo 4. If you mean the storm rifle, its because its a different weapon to the plasma rifle.

> 1: It wasn’t designed that way
> 2: It wasn’t designed that way
> 3: It was designed that way
> 4: People are cry babies
> 5: People are cry babies

Nice Tantrum.

  1. That’s just a game design feature. In the list of things that need to be inspected and looked into further, this probably should be towards the far bottom of it.
  2. Dual-Wielding was a feature of Halo that was always hotly contested. Some hated it, some loved it. I think this is just a general game design direction that 343 took. Just like in Halo 2 when people yelled to bring back the real AR, there will always be people who want dual-wielding brought back.
  3. The Thruster Pack is a go-to load-out for many pros including Ninja and most of the other pro live streamers. While it is absolutely the most subtle of the load outs, it is no doubt an effective tool to evade, catch up, or get around nasty corners. The Thruster Pack is not, however, and effective tool at dodging bullets if you are behind in a battle. You lose your ability to shoot and maybe only cause the shooter to lose 1-2 rounds at most. I would investigate how you could be using this load out differently.
  4. The DMR feels to many that it is slightly over-powered not because of how much damage it does (there are still those who exist, but that camp is much smaller), but the fact that there is such a powerful scope, high bullet magnetism, and no necessity to lead a Spartan like with a BR, there is definite validity to the community’s concerns.
  5. I think most people agree that there is a great base game in Halo 4. There will always be resistance to change- some good, some bad. Halo 4 is still a good shooter, and has the potential to be the staple in MLG that Halo 2 was. However, Halo 4 did not live up to many people’s (sometimes lofty) expectations, and the community has a right to voice their disappointment and concerns with reason and constructive feedback. You may not see a whole lot of love here, but most of it comes from the right place of people loving a game and wanting it to be the same game they couldn’t wait to get home from school or work to play.

Sincerely,
Tripod

  1. From a story aspect, the storm rifle is the spiritual successor of the old plasma rifle. It combines similar technologies from the rifle and the plasma repeater. Again, in story terms, I think it’s basically a cheap assault weapon that can be manufacture in bulk by the Covenant. And with their Covenant Civil War going on, they probably need cheap made weapons. Now from a game mechanics standpoint, I’m sure it’s because of balancing. You need to give is some weaknesses that are different from the other gun. Besides, it’s basically an assault rifle with high recoil and like other assault rifle types, after the third or fourth shot, it become very inaccurate. Controlled burst is the way to go with this.

  2. From a story aspect, I think the guns that you can access are now too big (sniper guns & shot guns) or have too high a recoil factor (assault guns) to duel wield anymore. Also, part of me still thinks that a Spartan IV is not as strong as a Spartan II (that said Master Chief should have still been able to). At any rate, with that said, we all should be able to duel wield any of the pistols. The real reason is probably joystick control issues. Adding the buttons like Armor Ability and Sprint made it harder to get other functionality in there. So everything gets all shifted around to the point where game mechanic-wise you cannot get dual wielding to work nicely.

  3. From a story aspect, the new armors (and I would assume add-on) are being manufactured by private contractors. It’s probably a good bet that these builders didn’t have much access to the original technology. They most likely reverse engineered it as best they could with existing stuff they had. It’s also conceivable that Evade made alterations completely throughout the armor, allowing for greater movement all around. Whereas the T-pack is basically like strapping a rocket to your back which pushes you in one direction. For a game standpoint, I’m sure the limiting of this power was done so for balancing reasons.

  4. This happens with just about any game I’ve played in. I find that people are simply comfortable with a certain style of fighting. For example, I’m not very good with close up combat and I prefer the DMR for its mid- to long-range capabilities. I like the distance that this weapon affords me. When someone uses an up close and personal approach, I often cannot cope with that and find myself dropped. Now if this constantly happens that someone using a bolt shot takes me down regularly, it’s easy to think that the bolt shot is just too powerful. Basically, in my head, I would think, ā€œI have to put 4, maybe 5 or 6, good hits into them to only their one shot on me. How can I compete with that?ā€ The answer is I probably can’t at close range. My best recourse is keeping them at range, outside of the effective kill zone of their weapon. Now let’s look at the flip side of this argument. My opponent can be sitting across the battlefield rightfully thinking, ā€œThat guy with the DMR has too much of an advantage over me. He drops me at a distance, and I can’t even get close enough to him to fire a single bolt shot attack. Why is that fair?ā€ So in their mind, I have the unfair, overpowered weapon. So you can see it comes down to conflicting styles of play. This is not to say that weapons don’t need to be more balanced. But we need to be careful not to over balance them. Otherwise, we will find ourselves with fist punches that do the same damage at the same range as say a Scorpion tank does. Hehe.

  5. Someone once told me that the people that often have the energy and the drive to write on forums are those that have issues about something. Something about a particular thing got them angry and upset enough to take action. So inherently, a forum has a high potential of being filled with complaints, concerns, and outcry. Those that are happy about how things are going; usually don’t need to tell anyone about it. That said there are a lot of people that liked how Bungie supported their community in the past. They hope/expected to see that level of support and togetherness here, and feel a upset when they don’t appear to be getting that. At any rate, I’ve posted replies in the past that go into more details regarding this question. Feel free to search them out in forum.

1 no idea
2 wasnt balanced
3 needs a buff
4 it has super aim assist and bullet magnetism. you can be aiming at their chest/shoulders/next to their head and get headshots. and its RoF is way to high.
5 I dont hate 343. I just think they should of done a much better job
