QUESTIONS TO 343i and some of my thoughts.

What did you expect when you took a game we all loved very much and decide to change things in it so drastically without letting us test it out before you released it? in other words a beta.

Why did you hire ppl who hate Halo?
How could you have possibly believed that if someone hates something they can come in and improve it? if they hated it its probably safe to say they werent good at it.

Why did you want to close the skill gap? By doing this you have only turned what was once a very competative game to a casual campy style game.

Why did you dumb down the Halo experience?

We tried your version of Halo and I must say it is not good. No matter what you do to Halo 4 it will never be the best Halo.

So here is a simple suggestion, LISTEN to your community (whats left of it), WE want Halo to succeed. WE want Halo to be Halo not a mix of two games( you know what im talking about). Halo is Halo and should stay that way. Ordenance drops, Kill cams, Weapon skins, Fishstick button layout, JIP etc are NOT Halo, so please keep them away from your future installments.

You guys had my trust but have lost it. It will take very little from you to gain it back. Just give me Halo not your Halo but the HALO we all knew and loved.

Thanks for reading 343i.

PS To others that read this please feel free to share how you feel towards the state of Halo right now and please be MATURE.

That is not the definition of a beta, and there was an internal beta.

Reach had a beta, and look what good that did. :\

I’m not touching this one with a ten-foot-pole.

I get the feeling that they were simplifying and exaggerating when they said this. Why they would simplify and exaggerate like that is beyond me, though.

You seem to be under the impression that they had anything less than the best of intentions when creating this game. Just because a game is distasteful to you doesn’t mean that it was intended to be distasteful to you.

Halo has always had to do a careful and difficult balancing act to appeal to a wide range of fans with a wide range of interests – everyone from competitives to casuals to Forgers to racetrack guys. I can’t imagine it’s an easy thing to get right. :\

Boltshot nerf
Gauss hog aim assist nerf
Weapon rebalancing in general
Forge Island
Competitive playlists
CSR

To the fullest extent that they can act on our feedback (presumably subject to budget and personnel limitations), they are.

> Ordenance drops,

Ordnance drops can be done right (read: without utterly obliterating map control as a game mechanic), but I agree that they weren’t done right in Halo 4.

> Weapon skins, Fishstick button layout,

How do these harm the game in any way, shape, or form? They are completely and totally optional, and the Fishstick layout could be helpful to players that prefer other control schemes.

Yes, CoD and Halo are very different games and most things can’t just be transplanted from one into the other without significant changes, but not everything in CoD is 100% antithetical to Halo.

They must’ve thought what they were doing was a good idea… hopefully they’ve learned from their mistakes and give us a proper Halo game next time around, not some mediocre game suffering from an identity crisis.

I could make a sixty paragraph yoink fest of the things 343 have done wrong. I would like to make mention of the fact I haven’t crouched or crouch jumped since halo reach. Who’s idea was it to make the default crouch button b? Brilliant.

Yes. 343 gave is our trademark red x back! However it’s white and disappears in a split second. Everytime I hear someone say “on my x” I want to punch bsangel in the mouth.

Yes. They gave us CSR. We have to check online, and it’s inaccurate thanks to JIP. I joined a game 75% done earlier today, still got 15 kills, and went down two ranks. WTG!

They nerfed weapons we asked to take out completely? Good job, the boltshot is still a one shot kill weapon.

Competitive playlists? Where.

In house beta testing? By people that sucked at halo? I’m sure they love the new Call of Duty here’s a power weapon you didn’t earn mentality.

Tl;dr

343 is trash, and anyone that defends the progress they’ve made in seven months is so stupid they’re probably a moderator.

Halo REACH was competitive?

Bungie changed everything with REACH and they had a Beta for it.

343 is trying to improve on the worst Halo Bungie created.

If Halo 4 was built on the Halo 3 engine, then we would not be having this conversation and happily playing Halo 4.

Reach Competitive? In comparison, yes. It was a competitive Arena Shooter. Even if you could choose different Armor Abilities… every one spawned with the same weapons, same nades and more or less had a map that was controllable in terms of power weapons.

The best good thing I think that came out of H4 was AA’s that were more balenced than Reach AA’s. But then they had to throw in other things like, custom loadouts, PODs, press x to respawn, and broken respawn values, default sprint… all of which would have been fine to add as custom game options but not as the default playlist. These features are so broken they are only playable in BTB. BTB isnt the most popular playlist because it is fun, its because its the most tolerable.

bsangel is a wonderful person. She didn’t sit down herself and code the X herself. She is the community manager at 343, not the programmer.
