Questions regarding theatre mode

I’ve heard some conflicting information about this, so:

  • Does Halo 3 SP work with theatre mode? The manual says it does not, then frankie tweeted that it does https://twitter.com/franklez/status/529409833749856256 , but my friends who have the game say it doesn’t.

  • Can entire games or game clips be saved in theatre mode to be viewed later, or only to the DVR? If only to the DVR, does anybody know what resolution and framerate the DVR saves footage in?

EDIT: Oh, there was a question I forgot to ask: Is there any way to view screenshots online, like on a computer?

You can watch Halo 2 Anniversary, Halo 3, and Halo 4 multiplayer games in theater, but there is no way to save games or clips permanently without using DVR. They can’t even be saved to your fileshare.

Only multiplayer clips can be saved. Campaign does not appear in theater mode.

Entire games and clips can be saved to be watched later within theater mode which is the same resolution and frame rate as the game.

Only to dvr, there is no “save film” option, you have to record in theatre which makes dvr clips. You have to sit there and watch the thing at 1x speed to make a dvr clip as well, and it will have the hud elements that you forgot to disable and no way to switch camera angles, it’s obviously much better this way.

Yes.

You cannot permanently save films in the game, just twelve in temporary storage. Game DVR recordings are 720p/30fps for up to 5 minutes. Details here.

Well, and i’m getting conflicting answers here as well… The only mostly consistent thing is that you can’t save clips to theatre mode, only to the DVR… which really, really sucks.

How different is the Halo 3 theatre campaign mode in MCC compared to the original?

It has been a while since I’ve used the original, but I think it’s pretty much the same.

Halo 3 theatre campaign mode in the MCC lets you play and fast forward the temporary saved film (no reverse), switch around the camera angle, remove the HUD and take screenshots (no clips).
