Questions - Pausing and resuming update downloads

Hello guys!

This is my first post on the forums and I’m relatively new to the series (please forgive me if I’m making something wrong)

I’ve already played Halo CE back in the old days in my PC and as a recently XBO owner I was eager to jump in the series, then I’ve bought The Masterchief Collection.

The process of installation was quite simple, I’ve just inserted the disc and installed the game.
During the installation I was prompted to download the 18GB update. I’ve waited the game to install then after that the update process began.
The problem was that it was 2:00 AM and I was too sleepy to continue, then I’ve paused the download at 83% and turned the Xbox off.
The day after that I’ve tried to resume the download but that option simply disappeared of the game manager.

I’m able to play the game normally (I’m at the beginning of Halo CE) but i don’t know if I will ever be prompted to download the rest of the update or if I’ve made something wrong losing all the 83% of updates already downloaded. Have you guys seen this? Knows how to resume the download or if it I will be prompted again to continue that?

Thanks in advance for the help and sorry about my poor english, it is not my native language.

Just reinstall everything and don’t play the game until after the installation process. Trust me though, you’re not missing out on much…

But I’ve already installed every 45GB of the disk. The problem was with the Update. I’ve paused the update at 83% and don’t know id that Will ever continue.

The Xbox One downloads and installs updates while “off” (it’s actually on in a low-power state) by default. Unless you disabled this setting, the update completed while you slept.

Thanks a lot for the info First Glimphs. Ive not disabled this feature so I hope that hapened…

Do you guys know if that applyes to all types of downloads on the XBO?

I know the Xbox 360 could continue any already-started downloads, then automatically power off. I can’t find any information that says the Xbox One does anything other than automatically downloading updates.

Yes. If you didn’t changed that setting the xbox downloads in standby. You can even buy a game on the smart glass app and the game is downloaded and installed when you get home.

That is a good thing to hear. But there is just one thing that is left in my questioning ( sorry guys)… When I turn my Xbox off it turns off all lights, The “Xs” of console and control turns off… Theres nothing showing some signal of activity… Only the ac adapter remain with a litle light in it… Is this the standing by state that we are talking about?

The white light on the power supply, while the Xbox appears to be off, is the expected behavior with the default settings. If you disabled “Instant On” mode, the power supply light would turn orange when the console was powered off.

If you have the xbox in “instant on”/“standby” ( I don remember what the correct name is) the xbox is still on I a way.

All the lights on the console is off. About the lights on the “brick” I leave Flirts Glimphs to answer. If you are downloading something and turn off you can hear the hard drive start up about after about a minute. (It’s very quiet so you need to listen close)

In another words, in “standby” the xbox appear to be off but it’s active for downloading, installing and to be turn on by your voice (if you have kinetic)

And by the way… I forgot to say… Welcome to the forum

That is exacly how my Xbox is… With the white light on the power supply… So I think its everithing OK. And that is what happened with my Halo Update, problably the download finished in the Instant On Mode. Thanks a lot friend, now im fine… lol.
