Games Halo 5: Guardians

I am highly interested in Halo 5, I’m a die hard Halo lover and so of course I’m getting the game. But I do have questions on the lore and what H5’s campaign will hold.

My main question is, where is the covenant. With what we have seen, I can deduce that UNSC, ONI, and UEG politics has labeled Master Chief a traitor mainly because he has become too much of a liability. The same way Dr. Halsey became too much of a liability. (Spartan Ops)

So, where is the covenant at? The Arbiter, how does he play into this, and where is Jul’Mdama and the Storm Covenant? I am quite curious. Also, what happened to the Brutes, and the Prophets? I know there was a massive purging of both, but were they completely wiped out? And what of Spartan Team Blue? Linda Kelly and Fred. Where are they at in this?

And why is the UNSC trying to collapse on itself (or so it seems). After the Human Covenant War, weren’t there only like 200 million humans left? That’s not enough to support an army against the Billions of soldiers of both Covenants. So why are they wasting resources to hunt their own?

200 million was the number left on Earth after significant bombardment and extensive evacuations.

There is still a relatively strong few billion+ humans left in the UNSC. The Covenant skipped a lot of planets when they hit Reach and Earth.

I thought 200 million was a low number. Barely sustainable population. But that does make sense, I remember how the covenant skipped over an insurrectionist base in Eridanus, that later helped Spartan Team Blue in First Strike.
