Questions for those who played the early access

I’ve watched a lot of the early access for the game, but there still some questions I couldn’t tell. Though I noticed the assault rifle range is a bit too strong, it can shoot people mid map with deadly accuracy.

When you get shot does your character move slower like in Halo 4?

When zoomed in, and you get shot do you get zoomed out like in Halo 1-3?

Edit: also is the smart scope not a cosmetic thing for real?

I played and apparently you do move slower but I didn’t notice it. Yes descope is there.

If you’re shot while sprinting you’ll drop to normal speed. It seems there’s at least a 2-3 second cool down before resuming sprint. It’s a little annoying and I’m not sure how necessary it is with shield regeneration stopped during sprint. Descoping is there as you remember it. There might be a bit of a flinch mechanic. I’d have to play a little more to remember. As far as speed reduction when shot while moving normally… I don’t think so.

  1. You do not move slower when scoped or when hit (ala 4). It is a FoV perception effect that causes you to think you’re moving slow (for those that think one does).

  2. … Yes the AR is deadly accurate but it isn’t necessarily deadly precise. The unscoped AR is capable up to what one might call mid-range, I’ll say it handles itself very well within the near standard unscope red reticle distance of about 30m.
The scoped version of the AR allows a player to expedite their unaware or distracted target quicker without forcing players to feel like they should have had the BR or DMR to assist or even kill where they may have at those near mid ranges. Getting hit descopes any and all players and trust me, an unscoped BR or DMR is much deadlier than an AR unscoped at 20m and beyond.

My problem currently is that the SMG and AR barely feel different. The SMG is the CQB and short ranged fullauto killer, the AR is the short to mid range fullauto killer… I love how the SMG works within its intended niche and feel it should be such a weapon that is either fullauto or off, no bursting as the scoped SMG, which is near laser-like, beautifully shreds in fullauto as well.
The AR can be burst but not for much dicernable difference (Like pacing or spamming the Vanilla DMR in Reach, pre-TU) and it feels like it too should be sprayed in fullauto at all times rather than pulsed to keep its ranged lethality. I would like to see the AR, both scoped and unscoped variants, ask for pulsing like firing a Carbine to maintain its Beta-Beta ranged lethality.

Again to reiterate, it’s not that I mind the AR’s lethality at a decent range, I LOVE IT. But I do not like how it doesn’t feel like promotes fire control to reward those kills… I also will say that the AR is not overpowered even though I will claim it is indeed too easy to use, even a “noob gun.” I’ve got a trio of vids on Youtube of myself. Nothing fancy or great but if anything, proof that for the Beta-Beta, simple and core Halo gameplay can earn a player a spot on the “Pro” podium… Or that the system was broken  (I ended with a 1710 or something like that for my Competitive Score Rank).

I read on another thread but can’t load the video at the moment, is the smart scope not purely cosmetic? Like it affects the bullet accuracy?

If this is true then this sucks. The whole point of zooming in the past Halo games was for visual accuracy, as in : you zoom in, you can see further away more clearly, but the bullets/ bullet spread doesn’t shoot any different. But here it with the smart scope, it actually increases the accuracy of the bullet spread. That’s a CoD move, such as if you shoot someone in the head zoomed in, the bullet is guaranteed to hit there, but if you zoom out, you might miss even though you didn’t move the right stick at all.

But I really loved the zoom of the beta. Makes me able to take on the big guys.

Smart scope reduces spread a bit. I’ve seen multiple videos confirming this.

in the right hands AR can be deaedly from long range, ive only seen this twice,

i dint go slower when shot,

you get de-scoped when shot,

smart link is cosmetic, people dont understand that zooming always effected your accuracy and spread, with the snipers, you zoom in and your reticule stays the same and you get longer range and that means you have a bigger and easier kill because the reticule is bigger so its harder to miss. Br’s zoom made it a smaller spread, people just think cuz it is noticeable now it has never been in halo.

For those that were able to play the early access, via. Xbox early access program. Will they be able to play the beta that goes live tomorrow as well?

Pretty sure you need the MCC to play the full beta. Not sure if there were early access folk who didn’t have MCC but could play H5.
