Since I’ve said in my into I’m new to the halo game’s but I’m interested very much in opting for a co-op game to play so’s I can better learn the do’s, don’ts, and the “jargon” that is all involved with the series. Is this a good direction to head in or should I just start playing the mission’s solo and take my chances there?
Well I would try a few solo’s and if your having trouble, some co op training would benefit you I’m sure.
You should play them solo to enjoy the story and atmosphere. But them go through co op with friends for some fun times and lots of laughs.
If you’re just doing campaign, go play Halo 1.

agreed! youd be best playing through on easy just to get to grips with it and enjoy the story, i do it with every game!
Free ball it
If you want a real challenge, try all the campaigns on solo legendary difficulty. I’ve done that for all the campaigns including Halo Wars.
