Questions and thoughts about a companion app

Hey everyone! I haven’t posted/been active on the forums for a while so please, be gentle lol

So with all the Halo 5 hype lately (and believe me, I’ve very much pumped), I’ve been wondering what, if any, 343’s are for a mobile/companion app. This may well have been posted before, but I was curious if anyone (maybe even a moderator from 343) knows anything about or can comment on that. Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

IF there was such an app I figured that I’d share my thoughts on what it should have and see what you guys think! Please feel free to agree, disagree (politely), or even add your own suggestions in the comments! I would love to have a functional mobile app again and here’s what I’d like to see:

The ability to track stats
Obvious I know but it should be there. Within this stat tracking should be subcategories such as stats (meaning k/d ratio, number of enemy types killed, longest distance kill, etc…) for campaign, the various forms of multiplayer, and an easy compare system so you can compare your stats to your friends…insert Sgt. Johnson voice or enemies!

Loadout/Character customization
I’d love for there to be a way to customize my loadout, spartan (…or elite, which I’m still hoping is a possibility), emblem, and nameplate via my phone when I’m not on my console at home.

Access to Halo Channel
The ability to watch the halo channel vids via mobile would be awesome! I don’t necessarily like going through youtube all the time. It would just be good to have it all in one, easy to find place.

Forum access
I feel like this is crucial for the proposed app! And it would make posting/commenting on the go tons easier!

Anyway those are my thoughts! What do you guys and gals think?

Yeah that would be awesome. I have been thinking about this for a long time also. I would also like to see the app have the ability to make changes to loadouts not just cosmetically but also functionally kind of like destiny and the destiny app. I would also like a feedback portion that would go directly to the game makers. Im not sure how often they even look at sites like this when there are considering what to do in a new game.

Then they can make a sprint episode be all about how they have listened to the fans. Let me be clear im not saying that they should do everything we say but if they have a feedback portion they would never have cut split-screen in the first place

I would also like to see either a dedicated app or integration with the pre-existing smartglass app.

Definitely! I agree with you. 343, or any developer really, shouldn’t always listen to the fans 100% of the time, but at the same time, a little more transparency about what was being considered would be awesome! They could even set it up like Xbox did with their feedback program. Have your community post topics that the rest of the community could vote on. Then, when something gets the most votes, it goes to the head devs who will consider working on it or explain why that idea wouldn’t work. On each topic you could have the forums moderator post when a topic is being worked on or when the topic has been completed and put into action.

I agree.

A mobile app that provides you with the ability to access waypoint, it’s forums and configure load outs, access and purchase Req cards and use in game credits would be awesome.

That ability to have everything purchased and equipped and ready to go when I load up the game would be great to have. Imagine if we could save a wasted 30 mins game time by getting everything set up prior to turning your console on.

Yes, that would be a great idea. Especially with the whole concept of Windows 10 + Windows phone + Xbox integration being implemented soon.
