Lately it’s been happening alot…
Playing on a XSX, hard wired into my router. So what exactly causes this? Is it;
-the server i connect to in game?
-router settings? or need to reboot router?
-XSX needs a reboot?
-COMBO of all these things?
For example, I’m firing at a guy & a team mate of mine is also firing at same person. I am landing shots and he gets meleed by my teammate, he died by my team mates hit but it registers and displays on screen about 2~seconds afterwards; meanwhile i was still firing trying to get the kill.
That lag… It’s been hurting me big time, it’s affecting my reaction time and others are downing me before i have a chance to even fire back.
If it truly is the servers im connecting to in game then i guess there’s not much i can do?
Other folks on my team say they ‘almost never’ have this happen and (obviously) they play better.
(I am not a GREAT player by any means and not blaming solely on this - there are times i do well, it just seems when i see this error popup i’m at a disadvantage.)
Any router settings worth checking and adjusting on my end?
Thanks

I doubt it’s your router, it’s most likely the fact that the servers 343 are using for infinite are garbage. It’s embarrassing actually how bad they are for such a small population.

Thanks for the reply. Any router settings i should make sure are in place for optimal gameplay performance?

I mean, all the basics you seem to have in place, I’m assuming your hardlined to your router. You could port forward to infinites servers, to see if that gives any improvement but I doubt it would be substantial.
I’m not an expert so I could be entirely wrong…
Do you know if it IS packet loss causing your issue? as I thought that was actually more likely caused by “security” (NAT settings on your router) or poor line quality?
Packetloss can be caused by a number of other factors but the one you may have access to change would be NAT settings.
Yes servers for infinite are poor and / or putting you in the right region but just trying to help with alt ideas that you can control
to potentially fix your issue.
Sorry if I’ve not been helpful
Where are you geographically? and I’d check your NAT settings (like how strict your connection is). Not sure how that’s fixed on console but various ways to fix this on PC
*Weird why my Avatar isn’t showing in forums?

I could check NAT settings on my router. I never really messed with them too much in the past. There’s no one else on the internet here except me. Good incoming connection in NA and yes, XSX is hard wired into router.
Yeah. I guess NAT would be my only suggestion. That tied in with Infinites own woes might be hitting each other. Like I say, no expert, just a potential suggestion
Don’t ask me how to sort NAT as it’s a long time (2 addresses ago) since I had to do that or port forwarding
Eh I dont think that would make much of a difference honestly. Changing search region to “Local” seems to have helped a bit (for now)
If you go to the Halo or MS twitter page I think there was mention of maintenance to the servers to fix things that will temporarily make things worse all week.
It seems to me to be a server issue on 343’s end. I see this issue a lot, and a lot of my friends who I play the game with, all using different routers and networking equipment, experience the same issue. I recently upgraded my router, and it’s been fantastic, but the packet issue has persisted. I don’t think it’s a problem on our end, but I could be wrong.
This week is the first time I’ve gotten the same messages and unstable ping as OP. Before that I only ever had normal desync and a bit of rubberbanding.
