Questions about Unlocks in Halo 4.

How will things unlock in the game? i.e., Armor permutations and skins.

Will it be based on your level or will it be based on a credit system like Reach?
Or is everything available, excluding Specializations, from the start?

You gotta enlist into a specialization, while you progress through it you’ll unlock skins and armor based on that specific specialization.

When you level up in the standard ranking system, you are awarded a Spartan Point. You can save up those points as you level up to get something good/alot of stuff, or keep spending those points as you go. Spartan points are used to buy Primary/Secondary weapons, Grenades, Tactical Packages, Support Upgrades the number of loadout you can have, and Armor Abilities. I’m not sure how armor and stances work yet.

Note this is just a assumption, armour seems like it will be unlocked through achievements/xp/credits.

Weapons skins i think is also credits/rank/specializations.

Armor and Skins are unlocked by ranking up in the progression ranks, and by doing certain achievements. You do not need to purchase them to unlock them.

Weapons, grenades, Armor abilities, Tactical Packages and Support Packages need to be purchased with Spartan Points. You get those when you rank up in the progression system.

You can rank up in the progression system by playing Spartan Ops(Co-op gameplay), or War Games(Matchmaking).

I remember reading somewhere that you can only choose a Specialization after a certain rank has been reached.
It could be misinformation though.

That is at rank 50.
