Before I get excited about Halo Infinite I have some questions.
- Will there be dedicated server software?
- Will there be a custom game browser?
3, Will forge be complete and be able to remove soft and death barriers on stock maps?
- Will you be able to kick and ban morons off you hosting server “IN GAME?”
Just some basic questions before I spend my hard earned bucks on Halo Infinite.
Thanks
We have no answers to that. Only the team at 343 knows at this point.
Did you know the multiplayer will be free-to-play?

That’s great! I still want to host an or run a dedicated server.

The last two Halo titles released feature only dedicated servers for all multiplayer games. Even custom games in H5 and MCC spin up a dedicated server for the session I believe. Someone can correct me if I’m wrong though. So to some degree, you’re likely guaranteed dedicated servers for all multiplayer matches in Infinite.
If you’re thinking about something like a server that runs continuously, and players join in and drop out over time. I think your best bet for recreating that in the context of Halo is just running a custom game session, or just running a private party as a fireteam in match making.
You don’t get rank or experience progression during custom games though I believe.

I have ran my own game servers since 1998. 99% of the games I have bought there was a dedicated server for the user. I ran a Halo Combat Evolved server for 7 years. I ran other game servers. I just hope when the next update will have a Custom Game Browser. Now I will be hosting custom map for sure as soon as the Custom Game Browser come out.

Yea, I sort of got that vibe from the info you were looking for
. I only ever ran a Counter Strike 1.6 server for ~2 years, and it was a lot of fun. You could use H5 and the upcoming MCC custom games browser as sort of a test run. It would let you sort of gauge how the experience will be just running a prolonged custom game session.
I don’t think there’s confirmation that a custom games browser will be available at launch though. So you might want to prepare yourself for just having a regular group that you can bring into your fireteam and you can party smash through matchmaking play lists
It’s a different experience than hosting a dedicated server for sure, but it’s still a ton of fun. Party stomping others in matchmaking is a classic Halo experience I think everyone should have at some point in their gaming careers, even though I’m primarily a solo matchmaker anymore.

I tried Halo 5 hosting. It was a pain in the rear to host. You could not ban people “IN GAME”. You could kick only in game. The only way you could ban people was in that lame lobby. Example: You have a moron creating hate and discontent on your hosting server. Then you kick him BIG DEAL!. The moron would only come back in the game “AFTER” you kicked the moron off the server and start hate and discontent all over again in your game. As you can see as a admin of a hosting server has NO REAL PROTECTION FROM MORONS! It really sucked. So I hope there will be some improvement for admins that host Halo Games. I’m not gonna deal with morons anymore unless there are admin commands to help to keep morons off my server. 343I has to give us people to be able to protect our hosting services to make sure people have fun for our users that are on our servers. That is why we play Halo so we have fun playing the game. Nobody wants to deal we morons screwing up your game. That ain’t fun! As far as points and levels I could care less about the kind of stuff. That is why I only play on Custom Game Servers in Halo. I play to have fun with Halo. It’s a great game as long as morons don’t screw it up for you.
