If you think these questions are clever traps that prove something, they’re not. It is a power weapon, but even power weapons are meant to be balanced to not be TOO powerful.
I’ll start by clarifying that the sword has a greater lunge distance than standard melee. Its quicker, kills instantly and is only further empowered by mobility equipment. (Grapple/Thrusters). It is also still incredibly useful for holding down areas or ambushing other areas.
No weapon is useful outside of its effective range. That means nothing.
This hyperbole just tells me how much you don’t know how to effectively use the weapon. The energy sword’s use will not change, and this balancing update will be to the games benefit.
as far as I’m aware, this mechanic has only been in Halo infinite. In any other halo, if both players are oneshot, there’s either a trade or a melee clash. Infinite just gives the kill to the sword even if the other player outplayed the sword user down to a trade.
Trust me, outside of fringe, really infuriating moments where you’re on the receiving end of this mechanic, you probably wont notice. And besides, the sword is already a one shot kill, it doesn’t need any more help. Power weapons are already advantageous in terms of lethality, they shouldn’t give you added survivability as well
I like the fact if i manage to almost kill someone and happen to land a melee at the end I felt we should both die especially if i had no damage prior to the sword attack. I hated the fact that i saw and heard my melee land and not count that to me was always BS
Yes, because the sword is a 1 hit melee, and the only game where that happened was Halo 2, which crossed over to H2A but only if BOTH players had swords.
None switch was always BS especially when the person with the sword almost died and my melee clearly connects. That or reduce the person with the sword sprinting speed and lunge
I think the bulldog is in a good position (though a faster fire rate would be good, I’m always one shot off…), but the old shotgun should come back. Keep the bulldog as a close range step up to the AR and Hammer counter, the shotgun as the sword counter.
If this is true then I’m not too keen on this change.
Whilst the sword is a strong weapon, 343i already made it so it doesn’t even get 10 swings anymore.
The sword is a strong weapon, however can only kill at close range. If you’re careful, you can beat out players using it more often than you’d think. Heck, even the bulldog can beat it out since it has more range and allows for you to two shot a opponent.
Really, I’d like to see the sword get that movement speed buff that it used to have in OG Halo 5. Why? Because it was fun af to use.
The important part of the blog was that 343 are acting on solid data.
So they’ve identified a breached benchmark, actively looked into where it’s happening, and have tried to reign it in (without going over board).
And any change to the sandbox is going to have winners and losers. I was actually expecting a bigger backlash against the BR75. So, colour me surprised.
