After the latest inside infinite, im wondering if MCC and H5 will benefit from infinites development in terms of improved settings for Audio/Controlls/Graphics/…? Since both games still get support and 343 doing many improvements on those areas during infinites development, it would make sense to apply those improvements to those games via update.
Also will H5 be ported to PC after Infinites release?
We don’t know what will happen with MCC after the 10th season. Right now we’re on season 6, so there is still a lot of time for 343i to add more features. As for Halo 5, 343i stopped actively developing for it years ago. They said they have no plans of going back to it.
EDIT: Forgot to add info related to the “10th season” I mentioned. That’s the timeline 343i has given us regarding their definite plans for MCC.
i wouldn’t think so
To the best of my determination, MCC’s future post-Infinite’s release is a big mystery as of right now. All indications point to 343i continuing to support and expand MCC until Infinite launches at least, but I haven’t seen anything confirming or denying any further big plans for it beyond that point. That said, MCC has already been given a lot of customization support to take advantage of unique hardware, especially on PC, and that list of options will inevitably only grow longer for however much more time 343i keeps MCC support active.
Halo 5 is a different story, though. It’s been all but confirmed that there are no plans for porting H5 to PC at this time. I believe it’s been specifically deconfirmed that 343i plans to ever add it to MCC, citing how trying to seamlessly integrate it into that package would be incredibly difficult logistically and from a UX perspective, and result in a single installation of 200+ gb. I don’t expect it will ever make it to PC, other than through XCloud.
Truthfully, though, I think there’s a bit of a #RestoreTheSnyderVerse effect going on with the apparent demand for H5 going to PC. I don’t think many folks oppose the idea, but I do believe that only a vocal minority of fans are really pushing for it. I believe if 343i actually took the time to port it, they’d find that it just does “OK” in terms of drumming up sales and hype. After all, it didn’t even make a gigantic splash upon its original release on the XBOne, and that was half a decade back. It’s not a killer app by any stretch of the imagination.

Entirely agree with your analysis. I see MCC as being used as a testbed for a huge number of things for Infinite, whereas I think Halo 5’s sun would already have set entirely if not for the crazy souls like me still striving for 152.
With MCC I think we have to view it from a business perspective. It first released on PC in December 2019 with the final major content inclusion happening in November 2020, therefore by the time Infinite releases anyone who bought it will have had between 1 and 2 years to play the content and the continued support since. It would make no sense to ‘push’ MCC after Infinite’s release, but I could certainly see there being ongoing support and seasons and even cross-game events.

I dont want H5 in MCC but rather having a separate release on PC eventually. With MCC and Infinite on PC this would complete the franchise on the platform.
I don’t think so.

While it would be cool to have all the Halo games finally be on PC, releasing Halo 5 to PC after Halo Infinite would probably just cause confusion. Unless 343 has been developing Halo 5 for PC this whole time and plans to release it before Infinite comes out in the fall, its probably just better for them to focus on Infinite as being the definitive Halo PC experience going forward and not try to to fragment the player base.
Truthfully, I think 343i’s just going to give H5 PC advocates the mea culpa that it’s available to stream on PC via XCloud and move on.
H5 has its fans, but it seems pretty clear that 343 is trying to distance themselves from it given how Infinite seems to be systematically designed to reverse course from H4-5 towards something more reminiscent of the original Bungie trilogy and Reach, at least regarding the elements we’ve been shown of the game.
XCloud streaming definitely won’t levarage PC hardware to maximize the experience for PC players, and that’s a shame, but it checks the box of technically granting players access to H5 on PC, and I think MS and 343i will leave it at that.
I’d be totally fine if I’m wrong about that, I just don’t see it happening personally.

Entirely agree - and it could be a real trendsetter for that.
