Alright Reading alot of these why not have ranks and you dont need ranks to see how good you are posts have dawned a question for me.
For the people who dont want ranks and played well lets say h3 as an example, Did having to reach a new high skill to get to the next rank ruin ranks because you didnt want to try that much and just wanted to play social slayer or was it just the absurd amount of idiots who go around flaunting their rank? I am not trying to start another flame thread just want to know.
just something I want to see being asked. I for one want ranks whether it be on way-point or something else as long as it matches me with people in my skill i dont mind getting on here to see what my rank is.
To me it was just stupid. For one I don’t need a computer program to tell me how good a player I am and the apparent need in a large part of the community did a lot to lower the standards of human behavior in matchmaking. Secondly the Halo 3 ranking system was obtuse (though I personally never had any problems with it. I won alot) for those that needed to have their eltronic mothers tell them their worth. That lead to a lot of complaints about the lack of a Halo 2 type progress bar or any way of predicting their rank-ups that were both required with change-over between Halo 2 “exp” system and Halo 3’s truskill. Again I don’t feel that improved our lot any to even have that discussion (let alone make it an important one.)
So let’s just add one to the tally for “was it just the absurd amount of idiots who go around flaunting their rank.” It wasn’t so much the flaunting part, but more the idiots getting the wrong idea of what their gametime actually meant and playing according to that very disturbed point of view.
