How could 343 improve the campaign

Well now that its open world maybe using the Nemesis System to add new randomized Banished leaders with unique skills and buffs to fight. More open world randomness like the Banished assaulting and maybe retaking bases you took over already.

Agreed the Nemesis system would be awesome for this. Have the banished raid outposts or assault the Chief.

It’s this big open world, the Banished are in control of the ring, the chief has limited help and resources… yet he’s pretty much free to do whatever he wants. How is a single pelican able to fly around untouched?

Water and more Wildlife are two things that comes to mind. Also weather like rain and storms and more diverse environments. I like the story though. They also should have more enemies or stronger ones for co-op because you shouldn’t be able to melt everything on legendary with basic weapons.

They could release the full campaign. I have a sneaking suspicion that it was intentionally cut short to be resold as expansions. The campaign was so short and the final encounter really didn’t resolve any of the conflict at all.

I think it would be interesting if there was some sort of supply currency that had to be managed to buy vehicles and weapons.

The Chief (and the Weapon) are sort of leading the entirety of the UNSC now so some sort of tactical menu would be cool. Example, prepare a raid on a banished stronghold by deploying a UNSC squad with a Scorpion Tank (provided you have the currency).

Retaking basis would be to much of a pain they did something similarin Fallout it was so bad that I got on my friend’s nerves and he stopped playing the game all together

No no no no no no no no no no to supplying currency

Care to elaborate so this can be a discussion?

You made a thread asking people for there opinions, haven’t shared your own, and all you’ve got to say is nononnonono?

Make full use of the Campaign landscape for larger scale battles. The possibilities are endless, starting with a 8 - 10 player Firefight against an enormous army. Now that would be some fun.

See thats because there were way more bases and taking them back was a huge pain. It takes about 5 to 10 minutes to take a whole banished base and aside from just saying you took it over there isn’t any reward for keeping it free from banished control. But if they can take it back that adds replayability without having to restart the campaign.

Shadow of War is a perfect example of endless replayability without having to start a new save.

I don’t think it needs to be a frequent event either, the point isn’t to make the Campaign more tedious, just to add a little depth and make the Banished seem a little more competent.

Right now they are flat out ignoring the FoB’s even when they are guarded by just a handful of marines. Maybe you could even upgrade an FoB’s defences with Chaingun turrets and stuff to help the marines.

They could stop existing. That would probably make everything about Halo better.

Yeah and they don’t even have to start retaking them until all the story missions are over. But just something to keep me coming back to the open world without having to restart the campaign.

More prequels like Reach and ODST.

Gonna be honest I have zero interest in any of 343’s storytelling past the events of Halo 3. Really wish they would have gone the same route Bungie did post-Halo 3 and flesh out the lore more with actual playable campaigns. The human covenant war is FAR more interesting than everything 343 has written.

What’s sad is we won’t see a nemesis system. Warner Bros has the copyright for it and similar systems.

I know, but its definitely worth the price. That system made the Shadow of War games so dang fun. Definitely the best NPCs ever.

Add more, unmarked items to the overworld. Theres too many structures that scream “something used to be here but was cut!”
Clean up the roads and debris so you can actually use vehicles.
Add roaming patrols to the roads.
Add banished attacks at FOB’s to defend against.
Add covenant vehicles and weapons to the valor system.
Add a supplemental side-story to the FOB’s that is marine oriented. Give us a sense of what the marines are doing on the FOB’s and what they are doing while Chief does his thing.
Add other logs that clarify why The Endless are a big deal. It shouldn’t take a legendary ending to just hint at it and the freaking encyclopedia to spell it out to the audience.
Add earnable armor within the campaign. Not charms, emblems, nameplates, and coatings. Actual ARMOR.
Add roaming bosses. Imagine a banished Scarab, Lich, and Kraken all patrolling the map as a hybrid of boss and base.
Turn The Road into a snow biome. It even plays the snow theme for CE on the way. Without the snow and ice that is the only track I don’t like. And it isn’t the music itself. It just doesn’t match.
I doubt any of these would make it, but the campaign really needs an overhaul. Even just a few of these would help.

Yes to all of these. Some randomized roaming boss encounters would be awesome
