I haven’t been able to find a good description of the Waypoint Ranks feature or how it works, anything I should know?
Quick question; do Spartan Company forum posts not apply towards your Waypoint rank?
If so, I’m getting the shaft… If not, well, why not?
I don’t see the point of excluding Company forums from affecting your forum rank…
Thanks for the link, but I’m still not sure of the whole purpose behind it…
Is it just to gain access to new avatars and banners, or is there something I’m missing?
Also, I’ve seen a few posts that mentioned spamming for rank as a bannable offense…
I just did an experiment, and the answer to the question is NO, posts to your spartan company private forum do not seem to count toward the total.
I didn’t even know it gave me access to avatars and banners. I just assumed it was a way to readily identify people by longevity or by the weight of the contributions they make to the dialogue. Which, in a way, I wish it wouldn’t do. I’m tired of people who think their opinion is carved in stone because they’re a Spartan with a forum signature, or worse, who think that someone else’s opinion is garbage because they’re a recruit.

Well, you may be in a position to find out if that’s true…
I admit I’ve been posting in such quick succession as a means to bring my rank up, but I haven’t broken any rules here have I?
Is it really spamming though if each posts expresses a different thought/idea?

Because people would simply spam 6000 posts in the Spartan Company forums to unlock signatures.

Yes.

Yes. If you want to express multiple ideas, you should obviously write them in a single post. If you come up with something right after you have submitted your post, you should edit that idea to your previous post. The rule of thumb is: don’t create a new post in a thread unless somebody else has posted after your previous post. That’s basic forum etiquette.
Posting for sake of boosting your forum rank is a stupid thing to do. In any scenario imaginable, it’ll get you banned permanently before you reach any significant rank. And for what? Some silly avatars. You’ll get much further by having something meaningful to contribute.

I haven’t seen people pulling out the rank card, really, or even acting smug about it. My experience with forum ranks in general is that the higher you get, the less meaningful the ranks actually become.
The reason why Spartan Company forums don’t allow your post count to increase is because it prevents people from spamming covertly and thus boosting up their post rank.
with regard to your question about posting multiple times with multiple responses etc. try posting only once with all your thoughts/comments in one post or it can be considered spamming and is viewed as a way of trying to boost your forum rank unfairly. I’ve seen several people here post just one word per forum post and they’ve ended up being banned from Waypoint. So try not to do that.
Alright, well thanks for the input, and for not being sticklers about it. To be honest I rarely ever use online forums, and its even more rare for me to post anything. I’m pretty much a big ol’ noob here lol. Sorry if I came across as cheeky earlier, I was doing my best to be sincere. Anyway… Thanks for clearing some of that up, I’ll try to exhibit better etiquette in the future.
it just pushes you to contribute to the community, which in my opinion is great.
