Looked fantastic, lighting, textures and animation all on point.
But how did those spartan IIs have mjolnir MKVII gen1 I assume.
Although it looked pretty close to the GEN3 set.
Is this a halo 4 prologue situation?
How can they be in London during the battle of earth with armour that was in prototype testing in 2553.
I mean not even black team had anything beyond the mjolnir black mark 6 prototypes.
Just a tad confused on that. This is a cutscene not just a trailer so it is assuredly cannon.

Kinda sucks seeing as 343i on paper are way more EU and continuity focused than bungie were but they seem to drop the ball on execution.
The mantle of responsibility symbol on the gamescom stage had me hoping for some indication of continuation of the didact and created story arc but nothing.
Great trailer still.
Good characterisation but a little bit annoying all the same that it felt continuity took a back seat.

It was clearly intended to be earth, london.
Unless a colony world moved or built a replica of Westminster.
The earth was only invaded in 2552 during the battle of earth.
She is a spartan 4 now
It means she must have served post war before being taken into the program and it must have been early for her to have the role she has suggesting she served immediately after the war and was on the requiem campaign before being stationed at the academy post bad blood.

It makes literally no sense. No new Spartans existed at the time, MK VII didn’t, MA40s didn’t, these models of Covenant units didn’t.

This, it’s really not hard for the banished to re-invade earth after all out defences were knocked offline due to the Guardians, although it could be a situation where Infinity finally took down the Guardian so now the banished have arrived.
In the novel Shadows of Reach, the Banished were afraid to attract a Guardian. Or this even could be a colony world on the outta rim, we simply have the same architecture as earth.

Hence why OP and others would be upset. Halo 4 made a similar retcon with the prologue depicting Spartans wearing Chiefs modified MKVI armor and excused it away as artstyle interpretation.

A great book as is troy dennings other books silent storm, last light and retribution. They focus on blue team and some gamma spartan 3s. I recommend them to any halo fan. Also some of the better audio versions among halo novels.

Like others have said; I’m pretty sure this trailer takes place on/around Halo 3. And is like the Halo 4 prologue where all the Spartans were depicted with the new art style. They’re just reusing assets they already made to lighten the work load. The phantom was Covenant not banished, so at least that’s something.
This will probably confuse a lot of people, especially those who didn’t know the Covenant landed in other locations outside of Africa. Honestly I didn’t know they invaded London in 2553, it’s been a while since I’ve read any expanded universe material from that era.

I have forgotten those smaller details, you make good points. It’s possible 343 are using the new art style and retconning Halo 4 armour, which isn’t a bad thing.

They have gen1 amour cores in the game.
They could use assets that are period appropriate.
Feels like a choice to push the MKVII as its the default for mp and I suspect our mp Spartans will be the center of the post launch content.
I honestly think it may just be a random clock tower. No Houses of Parliament, no Westminster bridge. It doesn’t even seem to be next to a river.
