Question Of The Day: Prometheans

What do think of the Promethean classes?

Some just look fancier than the others IMO. I would’ve really loved to see the higher classes like Battlewagon act as mini-boss encounters given that they wield the heavier weaponry, you know, just make them stand out.

The teachers are hot but strict.

There should have been a sleeker looking one. Other than that, big, agile and mean, not fun to tangle with on legendary.

I think 343 did a good job of making a class that there isn’t just one way to take them down, as in the Knights. I made a thread last week about the Knights, and everyone seemed to have a different approach to taking them down. If you can say anything about them, you have to give them credit for being versatile. The noob combo was getting too easy.

But there is just one way to take them down: they are simply bullet sponges.

This.

There are other ways to make enemy classes distinct.

And yeah, the Battlewagons were treated as infantry too regularly. There is one occasion in the Campaign where they are presented in a mini-boss fashion, but Cortana downplays the moment by calling them mere Knights.

The Knights aren’t exactly versatile, but I know what you mean.

They’re cool. I complaints about their design and/or their introduction here.

But the knights just didn’t feel intimidating. Even facing them for the first time didn’t make me nervous.

That and the watchers and crawlers are just plain annoying.

They’re boring and annoying.

And how come they remind me nothing of sentinels?

Anyone else play Halo2, and they had those giant floating sentinel tank things?

You’d think other forerunner tech would look similar, as it’s all meant to fight Flood. -Sentinel and Promethean-

Really, in this game I just want to fight more Covenant, the Prometheans just aren’t fun to fight. No satisfaction in it, just feels like a bad MMO grind.

If they were better to fight then I would like them. But all they are, are bullet sponges. For me every fight with them went the same and it got boring real fast. Every time more showed up I was like great I have to take more of these things out, they felt like a chore to fight and enemies should not make me want to quit because they are so boring.

H2 Enforcers made me rage so much (but that might have been because I was trying to keep them alive). They were terrifying if I was in a vehicle, they picked it up and even if I got out, I’d be flung out of the level.

I personally found them more interesting the covenant I had to fight.

Definitely a pain though since it took a lot to kill knights and I have an absolute hatred for watchers.

I do wish there was one more class of promethean, or a vehicle of some sort. I feel like they could have been much better with that one or two more enemies. Othewise a fantastic foe.

They’re boring, mostly due to similarity in designs from low-high ranks and lackluster AI. Or in other words: what everyone else has already said.

EDIT: I might also add that my favorite level in the campaign, Composer, stands as such primarily because of the lack of prometheans.

I thought they were a nice change from the Covenant. They absorb way too much damage, though, especially on Legendary.

I love them. Fighting them is a real uphill struggle sometimes, but I love the feeling of having truly been through an epic battle after the fact. I prefer them in Spartan Ops though - unlimited lives makes the difficulty a little easier to bear.

They should have made the difference between ranks better. Instead of say, like how a Battlewagon is just a normal Knight with a slightly different face and some orange hardlight feathers on its back.

I’ve got your answer, they are cool looking, yet quite annoying. Especially the Battlewagon and Commander Classes.
