Halo Anniversary’s campaign is built on the original engine with some modifications to account for new stuff (online 2-player coop, skulls, terminals) and with a new graphics layer running on top (and you can switch between old and new graphics layer in real time).

Halo Anniversary’s multiplayer is a map pack for Reach. It includes 7 maps that you can play directly from the CEA disc, or you can download them to your hard drive and play them from Reach.
Part of the reason for the recent Reach TU was to support some gametypes in Reach that will apparantly offer vaguely CE-like gameplay.

You’re confused. Let me clear up for you.

CE:A is going to have a remastered Campaign but the MP is for Reach. Seven new maps (one FF map and six remakes from Halo CE and Halo 2). 343 isn’t trying to sell Reach off as CE:A, it is in a way a map pack plus a remastered CE all in one with new achievements, skulls, and terminals.

In addition: Once CE:A is released there will be an Anniversary playlist (for Halo Reach) that will feel very similar (not 100 percent) to CE gameplay. BS Angel posted a video of one of the new maps High Noon (Hang em High) utilizing the Anniversary gametype settings Linked here

Also, give the recent sparkast some attention. It goes over details with the new Anniversary settings as well as some other important MP details. It’s around 20 minutes or so. Sparkast

Remake maps are as follows. I’ll list the new name of the map and the original in parenthesis so you know don’t get confused. In the Anniversary playlist, the original name will be used, the newer names will have changes to accommodate for Reach’s AA (such as jetpacks) and will be used in the other playlists.

Solitary (Prisoner)- Halo CE

Ridgeline (Timbelands)- Halo CE PC edition

Beaver Creek (Battle Creek) Halo CE/Halo 2

Breakneck (Headlong)-Halo 2

Penance (Damnation)- Halo CE

High Noon (Hang Em High)-Halo CE/Halo 2 (in Halo 2 it was remade into Tombstone by Certain Affinity who remade it again in the form of High Noon. They created the other six maps as well as the maps in Defiant Map Pack).

Installation 04-Halo Reach’s is new and unique FF map based on the second level in CE known as “Halo”. ODST AI’s will help you out on this map and will be exclusive for this level. Warthogs will be usable, the Covies will be able to use Banshees, Ghosts and i think Wraiths (not sure about those last two).

Lastly: There will be no new armor permutations to upgrade your Spartan look with. However, there are a couple of achievements added to Reach’s MP.

Yeah, as everyone has said before… Halo Anniversary Multiplayer runs on Reach. As a map pack for those who didn’t get Anniversary. If you’ve seen the menu, you’ll see “Halo Reach Multiplayer”. They’re not being sneaky and trying to trick people into buying Reach. I think they used Reach because of time. Instead of making an entirely new multiplayer, matchmaking system, etc… they used an existing game with a great multiplayer system. They wanted to get this done before the 10 year anniversary of Halo CE. This was the way they could do it and have a set of multiplayer maps for us too.

Halo: CEA is pretty much Halo 1 campaign with Halo: Reach Multi-Player
