Hello, I’m looking to get the flaming skull for halo reach, Do I purchase a un-opened copy of halo reach limited edition like this? Halo: Reach -- Limited Edition (Microsoft Xbox 360, 2010) for sale online | eBay
And if I do, will this just effect the one Xbox I use or will it apply to my account and stay permanently on there?
If anyone could answer my questions I would appreciate it.
thank you.

Before you spend an exorbitant amount of money on a sealed legendary edition, you will be very disappointed to know that the red flaming helmet does nothing in regards to gameplay at all whatsoever. You do not get any special weapons or abilities by having it, actually all armor is the same as it does nothing at all.
Check out a similar thread at the bottom of this page or maybe the start of the next. Some people say they do work while others say they expired. I personally don’t know, all I can do is warn you about wasting your money for no reason and point you to the other thread where the same topic was recently discussed.

Oh yes I know it’s cosmetic and that it does nothing, I’ve known that since the game came out lol. The legendary edition cost 140$ sealed and some people report that the armor effect expired? Dang never mind then lol.
I wonder how they expire…
Thanks anyways

If you know it does nothing why would you spend that much money to obtain it!?
Well like I said I don’t know for sure if they do expire, I just wanted to point you to the other existing thread. The last two replies were one person saying that they expire and the other claiming that they do not. If I were you I wouldn’t risk it seeing as how it isn’t contributing anything to your Reach experience. Did you find the post I referenced?

Yes just found the thread,
I thought it was the ultimate edition which was 40$ sealed, the legendary edition goes for 250-500$, it looked cool but I wasn’t going to spend 250$ on a cosmetic and then risk not working

I guess you and I are a lot different, I would never spend money on something that didn’t have any impact on a game. Hopefully someone that knows more than I about the code status will chime in here - all I know for certain is that people have mixed opinions on the subject and it’s a smart move not making the purchase.

To the best of my knowledge, the codes no longer work. All download codes have an expiration date so even if you managed to find a code, you’d be out of luck. The ONLY reason I’d shell out that kind of money for a Halo Reach Legendary Edition is if it was sealed just so I had it in my collection.

Make sure it says in the description that you will get the code for the flaming helmet and not just the game. If you download the code to your console it should just carry it over and should be fine!

I dont think so, as my friend found a recon helmet code in an old case he bought back in 2011, and it still worked about a month back.

Id have to see proof of a code actually working. Codes have expiration dates
If you can find an unopened Legendary Edition of Reach then you’ll get the red flames but there is no way to get blue flames now
The only reason I wear mine anymore in-game is because everyone has the old Bungie Blue that was given away for free on the last Bungie day, but not everyone has the Red flame
