Question for Experienced Warthog Drivers

During the second technical preview, I thought that the way the Warthog handled basically sucked. I submitted a bunch of feedback and support tickets figuring they probably just go into a black hole somewhere.

Maybe I’m just crazy but when I got into my first game in the Beta, I played on the new High Power map and thought the Warthog felt better. But then when I played on the Fragmentation map, which was the one available for the technical preview, the handling sucked again.

Has anyone else noticed a difference in the way the Warthog drives between the Beta and the technical preview?

Has anyone else noticed any difference in the way the Warthog drives depending on which map you play?

Warthog feel way too floaty. Like they are too light, IMO.

The 0-60 on the Warthog is almost unnervingly fast, and like Jarac said, it’s very floaty coming off of ramps or jumps, or even just slipping up its footing.

I can’t say it’s the same or better than it was in the flight. I think it’s a little unwieldy, at least not having practiced with it yet.

I’m fairly decent as a Warthog driver, but the Infinite one is pretty embarrassing. It goes from 0-60 ridiculously fast and has very little traction. It feels more like a remote control toy car than a heavy, adult-sized vehicle.

Haha. This is exactly what I thought. It feels more like a toy than a heavy duty killing machine.

Also, definitely too floaty.

I noticed that the Infinite Warthog controls very different. in addition to the floating feeling, the steering and also very sluggish and it does not make quick turns the same way as in previous games.

To me it feels like the new Warthog is filled with helium and covered in lubricant.

I’m guessing 343 isn’t going to rename it… but I like it!

Acceleration is waaaay too high for it.
Also as said on the floty thing, it becomes air borne waaay too easily.
But wait, there’s more.
The physics are way off. It feels at times like vehicles try to auto correct their alignment to the ground while in air, as to avoid flipping, but can still roll around awkwardly on the ground.

I crashed my warthog into a wall, it got stuck in the terrain. Normally I could’ve driven off, as it didn’t look like it was stuck, and the wheels had ground contact. But I had to jump out and flip it.

Also crashed into a wall with the chopper, not straight on, but kind of scraping against it. Chopper came to a dead stop immediately.

I always seem to be the designated driver for my friends, I can still make the best of the new Hog, but it doesn’t feel right. It doesn’t seem to side sweep or J-Turn/Fishtail like once it did - its as if the whole thing has been reverted to a pre-CE variant, that isn’t yet final.

There’s no meat/heft to it, which goes to the acceleration issue folks have mentioned.

The interaction with the environment is definitely off. And I don’t know if it’s related but collision damage with other vehicles seems non-existent.

My favorite Warthog was the Halo 2 Anniversary one.

As an aside, I am having trouble getting used to the “hold B to flip” mechanic. My muscle memory just wants to press B to flip it.

To me, the feel of the Warthog is way off. It has no weight and driving it feels like I’m floating in a balloon. Far too easy to get out of control when jumping over something.

It feels like it turns so fast it just flips over half the time if you hit the slightest bump
