Question for all H5 players with < 1 K/D in Slayer

what are you struggling with? I’m trying to put together a video for those who are having trouble keeping up in slayer games. Thinking about doing one about SWAT and Breakout down the line.

I actually don’t play much slayer. I mostly play BTB and Warzone, which means accomplishing objectives is more important than K/D for me in general. My arena K/D hovers at just over 1, but my Warzone K/D is around 0.7 or so, which drags my overall down.

I don’t think I am struggling, I just prefer different game types with different priorities. I suspect that is part of the answer to your question. There are probably a lot of players like me who don’t really care too much about K/D and are more focused on objective based games.

This is just my personal opinion but I see way to many people cranking up their sensitivity settings too high like they are trying to play CoD. Halo is best played at low to medium settings since most of your gunfights take place at medium to long ranges. A lot of people prioritize twitch based settings which don’t work well with halo 5 game mechanics. Halo 5 is all about fine reticle control and landing precision shots.

Thanks but this is more about people who play Team Slayer

Where do I begin?
-the clumsy inconsistent aiming controls
-The corner crouching campy play style is even more irritating in H5 due to nonsense like Spartan charge
-nonsense like Spartan charge, slide, sprint
-terribly designed maps
-terrible spawn system
-the fact I always seem to no
matter what have the entire enemy around me while my team mates are having a circle jerk somewhere else on the map

i I could go on but I think you get the point

Came in here ready to lock, discovered a helpful individual. Does not compute.

need a mop for cleaning up that blown mind? :stuck_out_tongue:

Personally, in response to the thread, I am just more trying to help the team more than anything> I don’t care so much about my kill count as I do a win for the team, thus I usually end up with more assists than anything. I don’t really play Slayer much in this halo though, mostly just warzone.

yea cod players theory is i need to turn around fast if i get shot in the back.
I play on sensitivy 4 with 3 accel deadzone is set on default i think its 12% and i aim fine. People with sense 6 are going to have a hard time being consistent.
With sense 4 i can turn around fast and get the person behind me.

lol. just trying to help the masses <3

When i first played halo 5 i had a really hard time aiming i had to get used to H5. Even if i had first shot or first two shots i was not going to win a firefight.
I found it much easier to aim in the Beta than the actual game. It was about a week of i suck at this game before i got good again.

Pretty much this as well as the Radar size in arena, and add in no Servers in the EU and it makes the game pretty much unplayable.
Because there are no servers in the EU I can’t even accurately put my finger on why I can’t seem to play well.

What everyone has been saying. Low to medium aim settings. And don’t overuse zoom. Only at really long ranges. If you scope in with your weapon score a hit or two then get hit, you’re going to miss your next shot or two. Meanwhile the other guy is likely going to continue to get hits on you. And move methodically. Sprinting everywhere is a great way to run into the entire other team, all by yourself. Save that sprinting for evasion or getting across a big gap. Teach yourself to be an erratic strafing machine while your 1v1 dueling as well. It’s better to survive an engagement and have to break contact, than to hang in to the point where survival is only a coin toss. Break contact run down a hallway and throw some nades to cover your exit.

Yes these are all struggles that lead to you having a poor K/D lol wut… I’m just saying, you can’t blame things that are equal on both sides.

The answer is simple, lack of practice.

I’d have to say a lot of it is just not playing as a team. I personally solo queue for about 98%+ of my games, and even though I have a Microphone and call out things my team isn’t always paying attention or helping me fight enemies or get kills. Several times in Slayer games, you will end up running to 2 or 3 enemies at one time. This will normally end up in a death for you, no matter what you do. Even when I do get a kill, I’m left with little or no shields and then get picked off by their teammate (who is watching the map, looking for who is fighting) so at best I go 1 for 1, at worst I die without a kill. It doesn’t happen to me in ALL games (I have some really high K/D games), but the ones where I end up with a -Yoink- K/D things like that happen.

One MAJOR piece of advice I’d give, to anyone playing (high K/D or not) is to simply “Look around at your team’s player tags”. Those little names above your players are there for a reason, and they can tell you a lot about what is going on around you. When a teammate is in combat, the color of their tag will change (so you know they are fighting and should head in their direction to help out) or even when they die, and an ‘X’ appears, you should know that an enemy is likely nearby so proceed into that area with caution (or go try to mop up a kill on a weak enemy). Too often I see people ignore the fact that I am in combat trying to fend off 2 enemies and I just get overrun with no support.

I know I’m blaming my team here where I should just be the “elite” player, but in Team Slayer your K/D is not always just about you (especially if you always queue solo).

Well for me I play at an 8 because thats how I aim, infact it feels slow at times, but I’m accurate at this setting unless I accidentally panic and send my aim all over the place. I guess it’s because ive always played at a high setting.

So what I’m seeing here is the most common issue being lack of team work and people trying to have stupidly high K/Ds. Here’s a quick list of some tips I’ve collected on my way to level 97.

  1. Communicate with your team. Seriously, if you don’t call out, ambushes will happen.
  2. Play at a sensitivity where you can aim good and not feel dizzy.
  3. Power weapon control is key, don’t crouch camp like a little noob, get out there and get some control.
  4. Sprint sparingly, I can’t tell you how man times I’ve gotten kills off of people sprinting with low shields.
  5. If you’re shot first, move like crazy, it makes you a hard target, jump, strafe, whatever just move.
  6. Don’t chase, it leads to ambushes.
  7. Aim your sights for longer ranges.
  8. As much as I hate it, the pistol is your friend, use it. Trade it for a BR or DMR whe you can.
  9. Don’t only aim for the head. Shields drop the same no matter where you hit, all that matters is that last shot hits home.
  10. Don’t power -Yoink!-, if you die it gives the enemy team two power weapons.
  11. Repeat after me: CROUCH BOUNCING DOES NOT WORK, IT’S A NOOB TACTIC AND CAUSES YOU TO MISS.
  12. Use the right weapon for the right job, don’t close range a pistol or long range an assult rifle.
